I need to ask - the Muslims on this web site - is it possible for your religious entity to bombard these other Muslim groups with the non-violent means of your religion? Can't you get to these potential bombers first? I am sure non-violent Muslims can convince young bombers there are not virgins awaiting them, there is not a martyr status after such a death. Why can't your groups get to these kids first?

Can you convince a all thieves not to steal? All murderers not to murder? All pedophiles not to molest children? All drug runners to stop selling drugs? All (insert criminal type here) to stop (insert crime here)?


They don't do this for virgins in paradise, they do it because they believe x-country has wronged them.

The statement, which also threatened attacks in Italy and Denmark, was published on a Web site popular with Islamic militants, according to Elaph, a secular Arabic-language news Web site, and Der Spiegel magazine in Berlin, which published the text on their Web sites.

"Rejoice, Islamic nation. Rejoice, Arab world. The time has come for vengeance against the Zionist crusader government of Britain in response to the massacres Britain committed in Iraq and Afghanistan," said the statement, translated by The Associated Press in Cairo. The AP was unable to access the Web site where it was posted, which was closed quickly after the reports.

The group al-Qaida in Europe claimed responsibility for the last major terror attack in Europe: a string of bombs that hit commuter trains in Madrid, Spain in March 2004, killing 191 people. Two days after that attack, a video was found in a trash can outside a Madrid mosque with a statement purported to be from the group's spokesman, called by the nickname "Abu Dujan al Afghani."

In the new statement, the group said "the heroic mujahedeen carried out a blessed attack in London, and now Britain is burning with fear and terror, from north to south, east to west."

"We warned the British government and the British people repeatedly. We have carried out our promise and carried out a military attack in Britain after great efforts by the heroic mujahedeen over a long period to ensure its success."

"We continue to warn the governments of Denmark and Italy and all crusader governments that they will receive the same punishment if they do not withdraw their troops from Iraq and Afghanistan," the statement went on.

It was signed "The Secret Organization of al-Qaida in Europe."

This was not a Muslim attack, anymore than the IRA attacks on London were Catholic attacks!!! This was a terrorrist cell striking for I guess political reasons. How can any faith claim to be peaceful if members of their faith commit crimes? No group is perfect.

I can't speak to any muslims muslim-ness or non-muslimness. That's left for God to sort out.

Correct. I have several friends in the London Pakistani Community, who are all ok, alhamdulilah! They're effected by this just as much as non muslim brits.

There are almost 1.5 billion muslims in the world. If it was more than just a fringe, we'd have quite a few more terrorist attacks then just once a year.

That is unfair. You cannot judge an entire group of people by the actions of some people. Jus because these people who attack innocents call themselves Muslim, does not mean that the Muslim faith condones it. No more than the Catholic faith condones the abuse of children which many of their priests carried out. This is the kind of attitude that leads to hatred against the entire Muslim community.

Would you say then, that the bombers who died today were not Muslim? That the folks who helped put those bombers in place are not Muslim? That the folks claiming responsibility are not Muslim?

We see and hear that a true Muslim would not act that way.

Yet, even those who say this are allowing them the claim to Muslim issues.

I say the crusades were NOT Christian as I know that a true Christian heart would not act in such a way. Yet, the world has allowed such a claim to stand.

I would like to see Muslims making a conscious effort to stand against the terrorists, condemning them unconditionally without reverting to "oh, I agree it is terrible but..."

I most certainly can discern a situation, thank you very much.

I am suggesting the peaceful Muslim community pull the rug from under the "fringe". Disown them, tell them they ARE NOT MUSLIM!

As for the once a year attack info, I would say such a figure is way off! Who is attacking troops working for peace in Iraq? Maybe then you can say only 1 attack, but that would be daily.
