  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I would like to hear from anyone who has experienced dealing with an area of land, which was cursed from bloodshed on the land. There's an area of land near the town where I live, which I know--or which I feel has a principalitie--a demonic presence on it. Everytime I drive over the bridge over the creek there, I get a creepy feeling--I had a demonic attack in my sleep when I camped there the first time I moved to the area. I dreamed of a giant snake trying to devour me and I woke up feeling a strong demonic presence. (this was a few years ago) Of course, I immediately put on worship and praise, and plead the blood and rebuked it, etc. The creek--which is called Sylamore runs into the White river. I don't know why but I really want to know why it's oppressed. I'm wondering if an Indian village was massacred there. I was talking with someone tonight and I was talking about the history that I've read--the creek is supposely named after a Creek indian named Sylamo who lived on Sylamore Creek. Supposely, according to the historical record, he was an outlaw who was banished from his tribe. One particular person--Don, told me that when the Indians of the area were forced out, Sylamore didn't want to leave, and wandered back and the white settlers murdered him, and said "that Sylamore should have never have come back". I think I may remember Don telling me that Sylamore was the last survivor of an indian village that was massacred.(That's not mentioned in the history record of the area---which makes me wonder if there are skeletons in the closet in this area  ) What's weird, last time I asked Don about that story, he denied remembering telling me about it. Tonight I asked an oldtimer--if he knew anything and he said no. A historical record of the area mentions a band of Shawnee who--having been forced to move from their homeland, were allowed to settle on the white river here in Arkansas. They had 3 village sites---which are located in the historical record. None of them were on Sylamore Creek which really surprises me which makes me wonder, why???? Sylamore seems to be a significant area--Sylamore is one of the main creeks in the area. And it's tucked in a neat spot. In fact, I don't even remember any white settlers living there in that time period, either1820's?) There's going to be an archaelogy dig in a few weeks at one of the other sites and I think I'm going to ask the archaelogist about it, to see what he thinks. I'm wondering, either the Shawnee felt the area was 'taboo' to live--either they felt evil in the area too, or, maybe there was an Indian village there, but it was left out of the local historical record to cover up a massacre that took place there by the white settlers. Since then, that area has been cursed with some tornados that gone thru the area that killed some campers a few years back, and rumors of a satanic cult ritual which is supposely held rituals near by, and wild stuff--fighting, drinking, etc, that went on back in the early 1900's. I do believe spirits can attatch themselves to places (or things).
When I first married my Dh, he had an 'idol' from Thialand...Long story short, I got the creeps everytime I came near it; one day it fell off its shelf and broke, we pitched it, I felt much more comfortable in my home afterwards.
I've also heard a preacher speak about buying a house that was the hang-out of demons; he had some Christian friends over and they prayed it out.
About the land itself... I read part of a book by Marilyn Hickey - something about Generational Curses - and it talked about that sort of thing. There's also a book called "Healing the Land", but I don't know if it'd apply to your situation. Maybe you can find one or both books at CBD.com or a used bookstore...

There is an excellent book by a Native christian couple--about this topic--I don't have the book anymore because I lended it out and forgot who I lended to and never got it back. I can't think of their names right off but I think their book is on www.wiconi.com, a native christian website. I heard them speak and it was awesome! It made me remember of a story that the rabbi in the Messianic fellowship I use to be in, told. There was a couple in the fellowship some years back, who were having problems growing crops on their land, that they had purchased. Even though the other land around them were successful with good crops, etc, theirs weren't. They looked into the history of their property and found out that a peaceful Indian village was massacred by white soldiers. They had a cleansing and deliverence done over the Land by the Messianic rabbi and afterwards they were able to grow crops.

Oops, I don't see the book on Wiconi. Here's the website to go to: www.firstnationsmonday/IMI.htm

Suuqiina and Qaumaniq are an Inuit/Cherokee couple. I heard them speak at a Native christian gathering I went to a few years ago. The title of the book is "Can You Feel the Land Tremble.... a healing the Land handbook"
