It appears that Luke (or an early scribe) makes a mistake in the genealogy of Christ:
"36 the son of Cainan, the son of Arphaxad, the son of Shem, the son of Noah, the son of Lamech, 37 the son of Methuselah, the son of Enoch, the son of Jared, the son of Mahalaleel, the son of Cainan," Lk. 3:36-37 (NASB)
"Adam, Seth, Enosh, 2 Kenan, Mahalalel, Jared, 3 Enoch, Methuselah, Lamech, 4 Noah, Shem, Ham and Japheth." 1 Chr. 1:1-4 (NASB)
"18 Arpachshad became the father of Shelah and Shelah became the father of Eber." 1 Chr. 1:18 (NASB)
So how does this mistake affect Biblical inerrancy?
