  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Because people live in a modern world where things like sin don't matter much. We as people have become soft to sin and live in a world where pleasure is all that matters.

I think it's a lot more complex then that honestly. But we're all entitled to our opinions I guess.

I NEVER condone living together...even though I do know some couples who aren't having sex...it looks bad, and most people assume that you are. Yes, it's not your fault that other people assume, but they have every right to! I think that if the bible says something is wrong, who are we to argue against it and make things fit the way we want to or interpret them like we want? Now THAT is a sin, more than the actual act of co-habitation before marriage!

My parents lived together, in a boarding style situation, before they married. My mothers parents also lived in the house too though, but still, they lived together, I see nothing wrong with it... They didn't have sex. Not everyone is sex crazy.

Why is it that so many christains live together and I'm sure have sex and act like it is nothing? They are sinning! Right? Seems like some people just cheery pick things out of the bible to make it ok in their life style. Is this wrong?

It isn't the better choice in the world to first live together than get married because the fact there lies tempations and so on..does anyone read Ephesians 5?

But I don't think that if you live together EQUALS oh no your a sinner going to hell type of situation..

Drew

I still love them but the act like their sex act doens't even exsist and they are doing nothing wrong..These friend are in the late 40's. Not that it makes a difference, but they are not kids..

Does that mean that all Christian couples that live together are having sex?? Young nor Old alike??

Hmmmm, may I ask how do you know that they are having sex?? Are they boosting about their wild sex life??

I am not confronting you at any way, just asking questions and respecting everyone's opinion..

Drew

I live with my boyfriend. And our personal life is our own business. The best thing I can say in response to the *numerous* threads on this issue.. is Let he without sin cast the first stone. It seems people love to get hung up on all the christians sinning in this way, and all the christians sinning in that way.. but in reality, we should all be focusing on our own individual sins, because we all have plenty, rather than worrying about how other christians are living their lives.

That's my little rant, because it annoys me to see this topic come up over, and over, and over again, just for the purpose of someone to say "Ha ha, look at all the sinners" or so it seems.

Yep. Look at all the sinners.. but the person pointing the finger should be pointing it right back at themselves. Because that's what we all are.

Rant over. Back to your regularly scheduled overly talked about topic :p

~ Lynn
Well, I fairly new here so I did not see any other "overly talked about this topic" Really it was just a question nothing to get all excited over!
Some people just seem to like to cherry pick what looks good them. Regardless of what the bible say I guess.

After all it still is a sin.. so I would think people would care about what they are doing. We all have Sins thats for sure. but one that is a know to be a sin and is contiunte to do over and over is just playing blind to it..

I submit that not only some - everyone does. That includes every Christian on this forum.

Why is sex a sin?
Will someone please explain it to me?
I am not referring to pedophilia etc. I am referring to contentious sex between two or more people.
The religious will go a long way to justify murder but they will never justify premarital sex! Personally this whole issue has the ring of hypocrisy.

First of all between more than two people is gross, disgusting, and wrong.

Sex between two persons before marriage is wrong, 100%. Read 1 Corinthians 7, where it is instructed that a man not touch a woman in a sexual manner before marriage and if you burn with passion then it is better to marry than to burn and sin by having sex before marriage. (Not the actual words of the Bible, that is a summary that I put together for you).

He didn't ask for a repetition of what's been said before - he's asking for why it is gross, why it is disgusting, and why it is wrong.

So you think it's better to enter into a marriage that likely won't last (since it's based largely on sexual desire) than it is to have premarital sex? Can you explain how this makes sense?

I'm thinking it might be a problem if a marriage is based "largely" on sexual desire.. Becaue after years those fade.. Then what.. Adultry?

Exactly my point. I think we can reasonably conclude from reading Paul's writings that he was chauvinist and not a very good model to follow for healthy relationships.

Frankly, I don't make assumptions about whether or not any 2 (or more?) people are having sex with each other just because they're living under the same roof or dating.

I think there's a certain percentage of Christians who do get hyper-focused on sex as the worst possible/unforgiveable sin and they see big scarlet "A"'s on everyone.
