  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I was wondering if there was a way where muso's can jam live over the internet. Like Zoom and other conferencing Apps.

Not sure if there are newer versions especially for music as I know apps like Zoom can lag.

But it would be great if this was the case and we could setup something along those lines. THis would be great for say either a ad lib jam session between a few or for getting collaborations ect.

I say this partly because I am looking for a jam or group that gets together especially for guitarists. But I also enough any instrument in a jam. I use to jam but have moved to a new area and am a bit disabled nowadays.

Still I volunteer at a local homeless hub and started a music group as I notices a lot of people played guitar or loved guitars and music. So I am eager to recreate this kind of group or opportunity as I think music is a good therapy.

Ok in the meantime I was thinking of maybe people sharing some of their music projects. How they recorded songs, what equipment and software. Whether they record all at once, track by track and what sort of instruments do they use such as real as opposed to virtual instruments.

I have used virtual instruments and they are ok. But nothing like the real thing. Though I don't mind the precussions and synths. They can life a song. I am not skilled in audio engineering so I don't know how to get the best out of software instruments. I think they may be pretty good nowadays.

What about song writing. I tend to first come up with a tune or a loop of somesort in my head and build a song from that. Or sometimes I have some good wrods of a phrase that flows and I may work with this. But mostly I think the best songs come out of an experience and it sort of comes out as an expression. Thats how I think musicians write the best stuff. Its the artistic expression of self and lifes experiences.

I sometimes have a tune or section usually the hook or chorus where I mumble the words or make up words to fit the flow and then later try and fit proper words with the same flow. But I sometimes get stuck and cannot find the right words and think I will just use the made up or temporary word as it works best.

I heard that Lennon sometimes just used silly words or just made up words and people read all sorts of stuff in them lol. Or when Ozzy was in the studio and they needed another song for the album. They had the rift and that but no words. So Ozzy wanders out to the back garden for a moment and comes back with the words for 'Paranoid'. Simple as that lol. That says words are just one part of expression a song.
