  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I am all for a policy of live and let live where people's lives and religious practice is concerned, providing of course that it is not hurting others. So many fundamentalists, in particular, but not exclusively, seem to have to tell others how they should believe and behave, as if it was any of their business, which of course it isn't. The world would be a much better place if we all agreed to differ if there were no meeting of minds on the subject of religion, which is only important to the believer of the particular faith concerned!

It should have been the title of the James Bond movie "live and let live" instead of "live and let die". We are often shaken not stirred. We can recover from a "shake" but a "stir" mixes us all up! :p :D
I have been told (I've never bothered to check) that Ian Flemming intended it to be "stirred.... but not shaken", but the film makes turned it around to make it sound better.

Actually, I think that I heard or read that somewhere!
