  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

From "Worship Wordbook"

Sequence of liturgical colors established by Lutheran Book of Worship is as follows:
Advent-blue or purple
Christmas-white
Epiphany of Our Lord-White
Baptism of Our Lord-white
Sundays After Epiphany-green
Transfiguration-White
Ash Wed-black or purple
Lent-purple
Holy Week-scarlet or purple
Maunday Thursday-scarlet or white
Good Friday-none; scarlet or black
Vigil of Easter-white
Easter-white or gold
Sundays after Easter-white
Pentecost-red
Trinity-white
Sundays after Pentecost-green
Christ the King-white

Each liturgical color used during the church year is either emblematic of a festival's or season's character or is descriptive of the event being commemorated:
blue: hope
purple: penitence
white: joy
red: the fire of the Holy Spirit; blood of the martyrs
black: ashes; mourning
scarlet: the passion of Christ
gold: triumph
green: growth

The only significant change since the LBW that I would note is almost no churches use purple in Advent anymore (traditionally used there in part because of it's association with royalty) because of distinguishing the season of Advent from Lent. So purple is far less common now among Lutherans.
The Good Friday reads first "none" because traditionally you have no paraments you strip the altar and all on Muanday Thursday. The other options are seen as the alternative if you do not do the stripping of the altar.
