little rant

I dont know how to connect to people and make friends. I'm not shy. I can be fairly funny. Not a total clown/jokester, but I'm not someone who somehow only finds joy from dull things.
I just don't "get" social interaction. I'm not totally ignorant. I mean, I dont go out and make an ass out of myself. But I just don't "connect" with others easily.

I struggle with the same thing. Everyone says "Just be deliberately outgoing." But it's not as easy as they think. I would offer advice, but I'm still having the same problem so I can only offer sympathy.

Same here. The only person I have connected with at school, is my girlfriend... So, I'm pretty much not good for advice either seeing as I'm in the same situation. I don't really feel like I need friends though, I like being kinda a loner, it gives you more time to think... And write/listen to music. Haha.

Do you perhaps have a specific example we could work with? How do you have trouble connecting with people? Conversation, depth of conversation, or just finding people you relate to?

I suppose conversation and its depth.
Finding people that I relate to is difficult for me, but I have found them. So that really aint a problem.

I don't know, I'm clueless. I can't really say "try harder" or anything like that because a good conversation is reliant on both parties.
My only advice would be to attempt to expand your range of friends in the hopes that you'll come across someone who you can relate to on a deeper level. Maybe look for a club?
