Little help from my techie friends!

Hey my computer techie friends.....

My IT guy hasn't returned my calls today....

We have a wireless network here at the house. We have two laptops and one desktop. The desktop and one laptop are fine.

The other laptop is recognizing that the signal strength is good... but there is a little yellow triangle with ! in it....and error message saying:

"Low connectivity or no connection"

When I do a "repair" it says that it cannot fix it because it is unable to read or locate the IP address

It was working fine last night.

Also what operating system is your laptop running?

A system restore could fix the problem, however it is easy to undo if it doesnt fix the problem

Go click start

then all programs

then accessories,

then system tools

then system restore

And you will have a popup box come up. Chose the top option "restore my computer to an earlier time"

On the calender, the restore points, or the points you can wind your system back to, are the bold numbers. Pick the one closest to last time your computer worked ok
The restore doesnt affect emails, or saved files. And if it doesnt fix your problem, it can be undone by following the third link "Undo my last restoration"
The only system it wont work with is windows 95......... Like I said, it may not solve your problem, but its helped me in the past with a similar problem

Check to make sure your laptop is obtaining an IP address automatically;

To do this:

• Go to your Control Panel
• Open Network Connections
• Right-Click on your Wireless network connection
• Select Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) and click the Properties button
• Make sure the Obtain an IP address automatically option is selected.

Then try your repair and see if it works.

We're still not sure what happened.... I left the laptop on all day... and *poof*... at 3:46pm it must've "found" the IP address because there was suddenly access

My IT guy says he hasn't a clue why it happened.....

Whaddaya mean? A hammer fixes everything!

Actually, I am a Systems Administrator for a large Engineering department and self-proclaimed computer genius and I'd never use a hammer on my computer.

Oops. I'd better be careful. Pride comes before the fall you know.
