• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

LITERAL Interpretation != ACCURATE Interpretation

LITERAL Interpretation != ACCURATE Interpretation

NOTE:
!= means "DOES NOT EQUAL"

e.g. LITERAL Interpretation IS NOT always the SAME as an ACCURATE Interpretation

In other words, denominations, Baptists, Catholics, Fundamentalist, etc., that use LITERAL Interpretations of the Bible, from NOW on, have nothing to stand on.

Jesus interpreted the scriptures ACCURATELY, NOT LITERALLY

This is a nice little post.
I wonder what exactly it is you're trying to say ;)

Lets just hope that with your many years of Bible study, you have learned how to take a hint from God as to when He is being literal and when He isnt.
:)

Wasn't the guys nailing Jesus taking things to literally? Jesus was more about understanding the love of god while those lovely fellas mostly wanted to get people stoned becuase the bible can be seen as saying so...

It's easy to understand what Contrarian is saying. A literal reading of the text is not always accurate. How could you miss that.

Well, he certainly won't get any help from you. Because even when God is shouting that the text is not literal, you take it that way anyway.

You seem to be the one shouting it.

Your attempts to persuade His people against His words to us are in vain.

I doubt very seriously you even read the Bible given your comments pointing out the its lack of neccessity.

You spout nothing but heresy and deception.
I cannot even take your belief in evolution to heart as you seem only to be interested in causing disruption of others beliefs rather than trying to teach truth.

I am not sure if you were the one complaining in another thread from having posts removed from a ''christians only'' area of this forum, but I wouldnt be surprised to find that the moderators have labeled you as an unbeliever.

If you dont believe that the Bible is Gods inspired word, then why do you insist on calling yourself christian?
Is it merely so you can attempt to decieve?

Let's say it a little more clearly and drop the != for now:

An ACCURATE Interpretation is far MORE important than a LITERAL Interpretation

There, now Creationists have NOTHING to stand on considering they use LITERAL Interpretation as the only way to interpret.....

Therefore their argument of using Literal Interpretation has now been totally invalidated......

The law came though Moses, Grace came though Jesus. Under the law people were quick to pick up a stone to throw it at someone else. They did not stop to think that they also are a sinner worthy of death. I do not believe that anyone with the love of God in their heart would pick up a stone and throw it at another person.

Jesus came to show us the love, mercy, grace and forgiveness of God. He showed us how we can live free from sin. Moses showed us how the wages of sin is death.

Thats another point of view, hard to argue about which one is right. It will always boild down to "it's true he said it.".

Are you still literally interpreting Genesis then? Literally interpreting the word, "day"?

:) Not much chance of that changing :)

Not even if an angel of God presented another word, would I allow myself to be fooled again into believing anything other than what God himself explained so simply and precisely in the creation account.

''And God called the light, Day. And He called the darkness, Night. And there was evening, and there was morning the first day. ''
(Genesis 1:5 LITV)

God could not have made it any plainer if He had tried.

Its just your ego and pride that cant handle the simplicity of it that keeps you from just accepting that God did it just the way He said. :)

John 3:3 "....I tell you the truth, no one can see he kingdom of God, unless he is born again."

John 3:4 "....How can a man be born when he is old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother's worb to be born!"

Is "born again" taken from a literal sense or a spiritual sense?

Did Jesus make it literal and PLAINLY in his first statement John 3:3? Why should God then in Genesis?

Ah yes, The simplicity of the statement being "born again" sounds like your so called simplicity of "...and God called the light, Day. "

Simplicity is Good, but simplicity is NOT the same as Accuracy.

p.s. When are you going to change your 6 Day Creationist Name Tag?

I believe in taking the Bible literally whenever possible.
If God said he did it in six days I will not doubt him.

When I stand before God in heaven I want to be able to say, yes Lord I took you serious when you serious when you said six days. I have no reason to doubt Him when he has brought me so much hapiness.

You did not take GOD serious.

You took God Word for Literal just like the Pharisees did regarding the Sabbath and added all of your assumptions.

The next you will say is that everything revolves around the Earth.

Notice how your reasoning is now NOT scripture based. whereas mine is

And just exactly HOW, by STUDIES do you know what is Literal and what is NOT?

Are you saying the QUANTITY of STUDY HOURS is what COUNTS or the QUALITY of those STUDY HOURS?

Where is your reasoning based upon Scripture? It's seems the reasons giving by those for Accurate Interpretation point to SPECIFIC examples with the exact verse number.

If your SO CALLED STUDIES tell you so much, why can't you provide specific examples of using Literal Interpretations? Accurate Interpretation can POINT to the MANY examples by JESUS.

WHEN you can POINT out a LITERAL Interpretation Example by Jesus, LET someone know ok? It's awfully quiet.

----

Is it too complicated to change your little personal logo thingy? You could ask for some help

Its easy once one actually STUDIES the Bible to learn and NOT to pick ot apart.

Your reasoning is ANYTHING but scripturally based.

It is based ONLY on that which YOU perceive as ''evidence''
