Wow...So I have adopted many new philosophies lately and my perspective seems to just keep getting BIGGER! It seems like everything to me is a teacher, so I never stop learning. Maybe it's just my Christian training but I can't get this little nagging idea out of the back of my mind that I shouldn't be having these mind-altering experiences. Is that feeling all just mother culture's legacy over my life?

I don't know if this answers you, but if your a christian, you have to first read the bible and renew your mind with the word of God. Get into a relationship with Him. Then the Holy Spirit will guide you into all truths. If you know the word of God than you can compare it with what others say and see if it aligns with God's word. If your in a strong relationship with God he will give you a inner peace if your doing what is rigth and convict you if your doing wrong. First build a relationship with God so He can lead you to truth and renew your mind with the word, so you can have discernment.

Hope that helped

hmmm...that does help. I like what you said actually about getting into the word of god. I think that's what got me in the first place. Actually today I memorized a verse from corrinthians that I had carried around in my wallet with me all summer (about the scum of the earth)...
I think that's a good idea to get back into reading the bible. I really don't think of "God" anymore in either the He or She pronouns, though...Ive been having a hard time finding the right descriptive words to use to address the Great Spirit. I guess the best I can do is always have my heart be genuine

Is that "shouldn't" coming from God? Not sure exactly what things you are referring to, but here are some general guidelines in the Bible:

Col 2:6-8 So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him,
7 rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. 8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ. (NIV)

Rom 16:17 I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them.(NIV)

I noticed you said you had Christian training, but posted under "Non-Christian struggles". These verses I quoted are written to Christians - to people who have trusted in Christ alone to be their sinbearer and to get them to Heaven, without relying on any good works or promises of their own. If you have never made that decision, I pray that you will do so now. It will be the best decision you will ever make, and can make your life so rich and meaningful.

God bless you, friend. Aloha in Jesus

Well to answer your question about the He or She properites of God. He is called the Father by Jesus and God made man from His own image. Jesus did not call God Mother but called him Father.

Reading the Word of God on a daily basis is the key to having a relationship with him.
I suggest you pray about it and call him Lord or Father. Jesus taught us how to pray. He set the example.

Hi Pagergirl,

That little nagging idea comes from the 'christian training' you've
had. You've recieved very sound guidance in response to your
post, and I trust you will take it to heart. You will find the
word of God to be LIVING, and always working with you, showing
you the right path, as you purpose to make it the authority
it really is. . .

Praying for you. . .:prayer:
