Well, after a couple/three weeks that my display manager was damaged, preventing me from doing anything on the Linux side of my computer, I started over from scratch and actually did go ahead and install XPde and Fluxbox. I also managed to resolve the menu issue that GNOME and KDE were having with each other by editing GNOME's menus down manually.
Here's the updated screenshots:

and for fun (even though it's just the basic non-configured screen)...

On a side-note, I really like Fluxbox now that I've tried it. Don't know whether or not I'll eventually move to it being my default environment or not, but I like the snappiness.
I just wish XMMS would stop freezing when it finishes playing every other MP4 file or so - it didn't do that before; I think it was because I installed the XMMPlayer plugin (which I removed), but it still was having problems. My problems with this sort of thing last time were solved by switching the audio manager to eSound, but that doesn't seem to have worked this go around.
