Ok people'z I need your help.
My dad doesnt allow non-christian music in the house. He thinks that all non-christian music is immoral and unsafe. I don't aree with him and I think there is a lot of good music out there.
Any way. My best friend's birth day is comming up and he loves linkin park. Its his fave band but he hasnt been able to buy their first 2 c.d.s. (he has their last 2) and I thought I would buy them for him....but I have to show my dad how clean Linkin Park really is.

Ok this is where you come in. Do you know of any web sites that has Christian veiws or reveiws on the band? If so please let me know, if not just tell me your thoughts and feelings about the band.

Thanks a ton
Christa

sick em', Z500! heh.

normally i would call someone like your dad narrow-minded, music wise, but in this case, his actions are having a positive result.

alas, we cannot stop such filth from reaching everyone so if you do end up getting a CD from LP, then i'd just recommend the first one, thats the only one that i ever enjoyed, now, i'd spit on it, but back then, it was decent.

I'm curious about this too, I've never heard anything from LP that I'd way was objectionable (but I'm only in possession of their first two discs, didn't know they had two new(er) ones).

No, no. You're missing the dry humor. He's pointing out that LP sucks.

"There", "they're", and "their" are three different words with three distinctly different meanings. They are not interchangeable. Thank you PhilN!!

Someone please rep Foo for me, that's pretty funny. :)

Seeing that comedy queen is still a teen, allow her to express her teen angst before she becomes old, wise, and 20. If I were in your shoes, I would show your dad their lyrics. If you are just wanting to buy the cds for your friend, it would be a bit judgmental of your dad to deny your friend of LP's music. If you have a car, why don't you just drive to Wal-Mart (shudders), buy the cds, and give them to your friend? Why must your father be involved?

Man, I'd love to take the credit for it, but PhilN started it all in one of the Chevelle threads. It's a pet-peeve of mine, but I never thought to mention 'til I saw this:

But if you stuck a "Christian" label on them, dad would be okay with it. There's some borderline "Christian" groups out there, but they're okay because they're labeled Christian.

I'm not much into mainstream music (IMO most of it sucks), but Linkin Park is one of the few bands in the past several years that I like. Just my $.02.

There's a positive review from Christianity Today about their last album. I'd show him the lyrics too, as others have suggested. However, realize that a lot of their stuff is angsty, and I could see a lot of stricter Christians having a problem with that. Just be prepared, and good luck

GEC
Come on, go easy on 'em.

BTW, you also forgot the fact that he didn't capitalize, misspelled 'you're', that
'gonna' is an improper contraction for 'going to'....other things among that he messed up on.

...but at least he has a period.

Heh, i used to be in the Grammar Nazi Society too!
