It's both trivial and unrelated to this thread (IOW, it began elsewhere and continued here -- much the way that the tail end of most thread seem to disintegrate into a flurry of unrelated discussions), but seeing as you're both asked so nicely -- here we go:

My response to both Mr. Strawberry and bhsmte: Post 356

My response to bhsmte: Post 368

I've asked for this thread to be closed, as it clearly no longer serves the purpose for which it was started.

I might have revealed this sooner but based on all my prior entanglements with bsmte (not that I've been here that long, or intend to stay), quite unrewarding and immensely frustrating. In short, I've decided in future, to completely ignore bsmte's comments.

Wait, so all of this was that he said "gospels" when he meant old testament writings?

^_^ I love those little blue buttons, don't you?, they're quite useful for reading back and seeing what one wrote. ( Post 371 )
Like I said, 'trivial' and 'boring'

All I can say is; Wow!

If you make claims about people (such as being deluded) as you have me on more than one occasion, don't be shocked when you are asked to support your claim, or retract it.

Perhaps if you were less confrontational, and made an effort to read what you have written before you start you little rants you might find, I'm quite willing to bend over backwards to assist.

I refer you to your comment: Post 366.

Be nice, and you'll find that people can be nice -- RBA.

You weren't making your objection to the post clear. I had seen that post, but had no idea what you were talking about until you bolded and underlined what you were taking issue with. If you are going to be pedantic about this stuff, at least tell people what you are being pedantic about.

Be nice?

You have got to be kidding me.

You have told me I am carrying a terrible burden, you have called me deluded and when I asked you to support how you came up with those conclusions, you posted cartoons one time and refused to support them in another.

If that doesn't explain a bit about you, I don't know what does.

You want to wig out because I used the term gospel instead of biblical writings, go ahead and wig out.

You label me, I will ask you to support it, retract it or apologize. If you have any intellectual honesty, this would not be difficult for you to comprehend.

Wow.

Maybe if you dropped the sarcasm in your posts and didn't accuse other posters of being 'lonely and frustrated' you might have a point.

Pot, kettle, black?

Exactly. If you'd been less confrontational, and put in the necessary effort to read back (a simple enough process) -- the matter would have been speedily resolved. (post 366) (post 371)

Sarcasm may be a low form of whit, but when someone is being deliberately irritating and doesn't want put in the effort to read what they have written (expecting someone else to do it for them) -- followed by continued demands, then I'll splay or spleen or three and not give a hoot about what anyone else has to say.

Now if no-one else has anything to say, I think we can pretty much call this day -- and get back to the subject. (which I strongly doubt!)

This will be my umpteenth attempt to get this thread back on topic, so please try to leave out personal jibber-jabber and let's talk about the 'Lines of Evidence' for Evolution -- not the historical veracity of the OT, NT or for that matter any ancient writing.

Thanks in advance.

Moving on: SNAKES! ;)

Thank you for moving me forward to new two parts of this wonderful journey, into understanding more about EVOLUTION (via the Berkeley website).

Lines Of Evidence: Homologies : Developmental Biology (Part 2)

'Baleen whales have toothed ancestors....'

'....the late Oligocene whale Aetiocetus**, from Oregon, which is considered to be the earliest example of baleen whales, also bore a full set of teeth. ....'

**'.... a genus of extinct baleen whale that lived 33.9 to 23.03 million years ago, in the Oligocene in the North Pacific, around Japan, Mexico, and Oregon, U.S. ....' W.O.E : Aetiocetus - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Baleen Whale Skeleton - Thanjavur Palace, India 2014*

'....Thanjavur Palace in India. A 92 feet skeleton of "Whalebone whale", commonly known as Baleen whale is housed in the Arsenal tower. The dead whale washed ashore on 26th February 1955 in Tharangambadi beach,....'*

----

Lines of Evidence: Homologies : Cellular/Molecular Evidence

This is by far the most interesting to me thus far, because it's the kind of stuff we were doing in school back in the eighties. I'm not going to post anything yet, as it's quite a bit of brain strain for me -- but if anyone feels-thinks they'd like to go for it.

Here's a little primer, for discussion:

'....The molecular level
Different species share genetic homologies as well as anatomical ones. Roundworms, for example, share 25% of their genes with humans. These genes are slightly different in each species, but their striking similarites nevertheless reveal their common ancestry. In fact, the DNA code itself is a homology that links all life on Earth to a common ancestor. DNA and RNA possess a simple four-base code that provides the recipe for all living things. In some cases, if we were to transfer genetic material from the cell of one living thing to the cell of another, the recipient would follow the new instructions as if they were its own.
These characteristics of life demonstrate the fundamental sameness of all living things on Earth and serve as the basis of today's efforts at genetic engineering.'

Enjoy.

The patterns of the similarities of DNA and genes between different species is best explained with evolution.
The problem with this explanation is that it is not consistent with the recorded history of man's origin. A better explanation would be Recreation. When a person dies and is resurrected as a new person, all evolutionary processes becomes irrelevant. The new person is not the product of evolution, but the product of recreation. And the same DNA would have existed in both the old and new person. Adam as a new person is the product of recreation, not evolution. So are the apes.

What recorded history of man's origin would you be referring to?

And, why wouldn't objective evidence align with this recorded history, if the history is accurate?

You can guess at it all you want to. In the end it's just similarities.

WHy do you think it's a guess?

WHy do creationists always seem to think that science is just a bunch of guys in labcoats getting some crazy idea after a night at the pub?

It seems to be because they have no personal experience of either professional science or higher education level science. It is not just that they don't know what they are arguing about, they are unaware of the extent of what they don't know.

This phenomenon even has a name. It is called the "Dunning-Kruger Effect".

Don't forget when they stand around rubbing their hands with glee in a dim lab saying 'We're going to lie about all of this! We're going to fool everyone in the world!' and that those guys with PhDs and years of experience can easily be proved wrong by some random person on an internet forum who copies and pastes stuff from a creationist blog.
