THE MEASURE OF CHRIST

by T. Austin-Sparks

"Christ in you, the hope of glory." (Col.1:27). Read the whole verse carefully, fragment by fragment, to get the full import of its wonderful truth: "God was pleased to make known - what is the riches of the glory - of this mystery... which is, Christ in you." The riches of the glory, Christ in you!

"Know ye not as to your own selves, that Jesus Christ is in you?" (2 Cor. 13:5). That interrogation of the Apostle is not without point, "Know ye not as to your own selves" - know ye not that Christ is in you? Do you not know this wonderful thing?

"My little children, of whom I am again in travail until Christ be formed in you" (Gal. 4:19). "Till Christ be formed in you"; this is a step on.

The object of the Father from first to last is that the Son, the Lord Jesus, shall fill all things, and all things shall be filled with Christ. The value of everything in the eyes of God is according to the measure of the manifestation of Christ in it. It is from that standpoint God determines the importance of everything.
"Whom He foreknew, He also foreordained to be conformed to the image of His Son" (Rom. 8:29). Marvelous words! No man would dare to say this; they are here by revelation of the Holy Spirit.

"Unto each one of us was the grace given according to the measure of the gift of Christ... till we all attain unto the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God... unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ" (Eph. 4:7, 13; ARV). "The measure... of the fulness of Christ."

We want immediately to focus everything in and upon the Lord Jesus Christ for it is He who is in view. What we have before us is not teaching or truth; that is, to be possessed of more knowledge of truth; it is not service; but it is the Lord Himself.

The object of the Father from first to last is that the Son, the Lord Jesus, shall fill all things, and all things shall be filled with Christ. The value of everything in the eyes of God is according to the measure of the manifestation of Christ in it. It is from that standpoint God determines the importance of everything.

If we become focused there, it will make a great difference, much will have to go because it is not manifesting the Lord Jesus. We must understand that the Father has set the Lord Jesus before His eyes, and the Father's eyes are full of only one object, that is the Beloved, His Son; and in the eyes of God the value of everything is determined by the measure in which His Son is manifested and glorified; that is His end and that is His object.

And so with glorification; yes, this stirs us, we love to sing hymns about our glorification; but God means it to begin now and it must begin now. What is glorification? It is the full manifestation of Jesus Christ in us.
The All-Inclusiveness of Christ

Spiritual service, vision, vocation, glorification, have no existence apart from Christ; they are not things as things, and cannot be had except in the Person of the Lord Jesus.

To many salvation is as a thing. It is detached and regarded as something by itself; to be given by itself, for the good of those who receive it. Sanctification is wrapped up in the same way. So often we think of salvation and sanctification in relation to the persons in view, and so some thing for them, but it is Christ Himself who is salvation, He is sanctification, and He is within as these.

It is the same with service and vocation; these are often seen only in regard to the persons themselves. "Saved to serve" is only part of the truth and is a dangerous slogan, for the motive, so often, is the service itself and not the Lord. You may be so driven with the service that He is left out. We have detached the thing from the Person, and we find we are gripped and wrapped in the claims of "service"; it becomes the drive of service, and in the end it breaks us. And again, when service becomes hard and difficult we say we will give it up, we will resign, thus showing we have separated service from the Person, and have been occupied, day in and day out, with it, the work, and not with the Lord Himself.

And so with glorification; yes, this stirs us, we love to sing hymns about our glorification; but God means it to begin now and it must begin now. What is glorification? It is the full manifestation of Jesus Christ in us. God regards salvation, sanctification, vocation, service, glorification, as related to His Son, and of no value apart from Him; He is salvation, He is sanctification, etc.

Salvation and sanctification are often held up to people as things to be received for their good; the object being for them to benefit from something received; often it is salvation for salvation's sake. God has not saved a single soul for salvation's sake. God is not after salvation as an end in itself, but for the sake of the Savior, for the glory of His Son. It is not salvation that is in view, but the Savior. If people are rejoicing in salvation merely as something received for their own benefit, the full end will be hidden by the first step. Is not this the cause of arrest and hold up?

The worker has to be brought, by the way of seeing no deep fullness of result from his work, to the place where he cries out, "I can do nothing." So he comes to see the true nature of salvation, and that to save another soul is utterly beyond him, and is the work of God. So he comes to see God's object in salvation, which is the glory of His Son. Salvation is not something, it is the mighty incoming of a Person; "He that hath the Son hath life"; (1 John 5:12). "To as many as received Him" (John 1:12).

This is also true in the matter of sanctification and service. Any service that is not fulfilled on the ground of the indwelling Christ as the Worker cannot effect the purpose of God, for only the Lord Jesus by His Spirit can do the work of God. Yes, you are called to be a servant in a service you can never fulfill! Service is the bringing of the Lord Jesus into view, and any service that does not do that is not the service of the Holy Spirit, but man's service which does not fulfill God's ends; it will be tested by the fire, and proved valueless.

Christianity is not a doctrine, not truth as truth, but the knowledge of a Person; it is knowing the Lord Jesus. You cannot be educated into being a Christian. Christianity is the knowledge within of a Person, knowing Him as dwelling within us.

The Christian life is not by effort, and not by struggle; not merely by trying to put into practice certain maxims, or by trying to attain to a certain measure; but from beginning to end, and all together, it is a matter of knowing the Lord Jesus within.
The Universality Of Christ

God has singled out a Person, and gathered into that Person all the Divine perfections; everything is inseparably bound up with His Son; He has put all the fulness of eternity and of the universe into that Person, and bound up all the fulness in Him; not a fragment can be had apart from Him; that which is to characterize the new creation is in Him. The predestined end of God is a full presentation of the fulness of Christ - "The church, His body, the fulness of Him that filleth all in all" (Eph. 1:23).

Every corner of the universe will speak audibly of Jesus Christ; so that we shall not be able to go into a place, or touch a life, without finding an expression of the Lord Jesus.

"Christ in you, the hope of glory" - this is heaven. You walk in the presence of the Lord Jesus. Think of the whole universe like that; a universal expression of His Son in fulness. That is the end God has in view, that Christ shall fill all things; that, looking into everything, it shall be found to be full of Christ. All is made for Him, and in the new creation all will speak of His presence and show forth some characteristic of Him. Oh! the joy, even now, when you touch a life and find immediately that life is full of the Lord Jesus, and the Lord Jesus is the fulness of that life; what a benediction it is!

God has singled out a Person and set Him forth to be seen of all - the Man Christ Jesus.

The Universality Of The Church

You cannot go outside of A and Z in the realm of literature; you box the compass of language with A and Z; likewise Christ Jesus is First and Last of God's new creation, and all that is in between; you cannot get outside of that. We must never think of anything as outside of Christ; He Is Salvation; He Is Sanctification; He Is Redemption, Justification, Peace; Wisdom, Love, Heaven. "Know ye not as to your own selves, that Jesus Christ is in you," this Christ - in you! Do you see the possibilities and the tremendous reach of this?

God will transform His universe, not from without, but from within. How? By putting Jesus Christ within the believer by His Holy Spirit; and thence there will be a two-fold activity - being conformed to Him by His Spirit, and He being formed in the believer; thus He is going to make His new creation.

"Christ in you, the hope of glory" (Col. 1: 27). "God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He that hath the Son hath life" (1 John 5:11, 12).

"If any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of His" (Rom. 8:9).

"The Lord Jesus Christ: who shall fashion anew the body of our humiliation, that it may be conformed to the body of His glory, according to the working whereby He is able even to subject all things unto Himself" (Phil. 3:20b, 21; ARV).

"Put on the new man, that is being renewed unto knowledge after the image of Him that created Him: where there cannot be Greek and Jew... but Christ is all, and in all" (Col. 3:10, 11; ARV).

"The church, which is His body, the fulness of Him that filleth all in all" (Eph. 1:22b, 23).

Growing Up Into Him

The Christian life is not by effort, and not by struggle; not merely by trying to put into practice certain maxims, or by trying to attain to a certain measure; but from beginning to end, and all together, it is a matter of knowing the Lord Jesus within. Of course this implies response to Him, and a continual yieldedness to His working by His Spirit within, and so co-operating with Him in His purpose of conformity to His image.

We have all grown since we were born. How did we grow? Not by sitting down and considering that we ought to increase our stature; not by determining to grow so much to-day, and a little more to-morrow; not by painful efforts to increase our dimensions, and so on; but we "just growed!" - like Topsy. But while we "just growed", we had to respond to the laws of growth. So in the spiritual realm, we have to recognize the laws of growth, and where these are not responded to, or are violated, there can be no growth, but arrest, weakness and loss.

Why is spiritual growth so slow in some and so gloriously quick in others? Because some kick and question, or argue with God; go round and round the point asking, Does it mean this? Must I do this? Is it necessary? Can I, may I do this? and so on. Yet these very people are loudest in saying they want only the will of God; but their very affirmation often shows a struggle is going on, and their growth is fraught with a good deal of friction.

Others in a beautiful sincerity and purity of spirit are immediately letting go to the Lord, so He is able to lead them on, without waste of time in controversy with the will of God; and there is no weakness through there not being an utter abandonment and whole-hearted obedience and surrender to that will. There is a passion for the Lord Himself, and for Him to have His full way at whatever cost.

It all depends on our appreciation of the Lord Jesus. When we get a true value of Him, and see all that He is for us to the Father, and as by faith we appropriate Him, we quietly grow - "Beholding... the Lord, are changed (transformed from within) into the same image, from glory to glory" (2 Cor. 3:18).

The hindrance to growth is the regarding things as apart from the Person, the Lord Jesus. We would never walk round the Scripture, as we sometimes do, debating whether we would or would not, if we had a full appreciation of Him, if our passion was for Him to get the fullest glory possible; we should instantly yield, that Christ might get more glory.

Is not the difficulty often in our regarding aspects of the Christian life as something in themselves?

An adequate appreciation of the Lord Jesus gets rid of all the strain of spiritual growth. Christ is most glorified where Christ is most in the heart. Growth is bound up with the Beloved One; and growth is the outcome of being occupied with Him, giving the Lord Jesus His place in everything; He the first, and He all, and in all. Conclusively it is a matter of the measure of Christ, we must see that everything is bound up with the Lord Jesus Himself.

Everything is a matter of knowing the Lord in our hearts, then the Lord has a clear way in us, and through us.

Get focused on Him, and see that He Himself is everything.

The Gospel of God is that we are saved to be conformed to the image of His Son; to come to the fulness of the "measure of Christ," "unto a full-grown man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ" (Eph. 4:13).

Zora,

Dunno how long you been together with your girlfriend, nor if you both discern God leading you to marry...dunno if you are ready to take the next step and make a lifetime commitment to each other. Having said all that, obviously, tiz wise and right to get married before your gf becomes pregnant.

Your dream could be one confirmation that it is God's will for you to marry at some point. :prayer:

As for the name Elizabeth, come from Elisabet, the Greek form of the Hebrew name Elisheba meaning "my God is an oath" or perhaps "my God is abundance"... This would affirm that as you remain faithful to God Most High, doing His Will, He will surely provide for you and your family! :D

1 Thessalonians 4:3-8 For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you should abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should know how to possess his own vessel in sanctification and honor, not in passion of lust, like the Gentiles who do not know God; that no one should take advantage of and defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also forewarned you and testified. For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness. Therefore he who rejects this does not reject man, but God, who has also given us His Holy Spirit.

Romans 12:1-2 Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God–this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is–His good, pleasing and perfect will.

Ephesians 5:1-2, 25-28 Be imitators of God, therefore, as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God...Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.

Hi HumbleBee

I had this dream a few weeks ago...forgot about it...at the time I did not think it was from the Lord...but thought of it again for some reason today.

I am looking into a room, like one would see set on a stage...it is like the drawing room of a large house...maybe a southern plantation...2 men are in the room...man number 1 is concerned about man number 2. Man NO. 2 is in danger from people outside that cannot be seen...he does not think the same way the outside people think.

Man no. one goes to the inside doors a couple of times to see if the way is clear...or safe. Then I see both men walk to the right of the room or stage...Man No. 2 goes out a door to the outside and is met by a group of people and they shoot him dead.

Man no. crossed the room at the same time but he opened a small cupboard in the wall..maybe got a phone or something...as man No. 2 left the room.

Now this dream was very white or gray shaded...don't know if it was from the Lord or not. It is so different from most of my dreams.

what are your thoughts?

Hmmm angelwind,

This seems to speak about fear of man, fear of rejection. Man No 1 could represent the Lord concerned for the other. Man No 2 describes someone that been imprisoned for a long time, so may feel out of touch with such a fast paced world and worries about how he will be received by those on the outside. Man No 2 may not understand what he being protected from, so went outside on his own accord and got shot because he didn't keep in step with Man No 1 who was looking out for him. The small cupboard is a place of safekeeping and seems to speak of the secret place...tiz much safety in the Secret Place of the Most High! Had Man No 2 stayed beside Man No 1, he wouldn't have got lethally shot. This could also speak about keeping in step with our Lord's leading...witnessing, speaking, or sharing etc as He leads...rather than doing somtin on own accord and getting verbally shot down.

Psalm 31:19-20 Oh how great is Thy goodness, which Thou hast laid up for them that fear Thee; which Thou hast wrought for them that trust in Thee before the sons of men! Thou shalt hide them in the secret of Thy presence from the pride of man: Thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.

2 Corinthians 3:3-6 You show that you are a letter from Christ, the result of our ministry, written not with ink but with the Spirit of the living God, not on tablets of stone but on tablets of human hearts. Such confidence as this is ours through Christ before God. Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God. He has made us competent as ministers of a new covenant–not of the letter but of the Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

Recently, I have felt prompted to release specific dreams and visions from when I first committed my life to the Lord. The night I had this dream I had talked with my brother on the phone. He told me that he had a dream the night before that he was standing in a huge open field at night and could see many stars, but he knew there was something else there. My brother said he asked the Lord what it was He was trying to show him, but he couldn't see it. He reported awaking from that dream disappointed. Before I went to sleep that evening, I asked the Lord if He would show me what He was trying to show my brother.

July 14, 1997

I dreamed that I was traveling with a group of people. It seemed to me that we were a ministry team and we knew each other very well in the dream, but when I awoke I had no idea who they were. In the dream, I was exhausted and I asked the person we were visiting if I could take a nap in the back room. I went back to lie down and soon was in a deep sleep.

While I took this nap, I began to dream. (So it was a dream within a dream) As with my brother, I was standing in a huge open field and the night sky was full with stars. I looked up and saw one star that looked very bright and was twinkling in a dynamic manner. I carefully watched it and noticed that it was getting larger. I really was concentrating on this star trying to fathom and comprehend what the Lord was showing me. Then I realized the star appeared to be getting larger because it was actually moving closer to the earth. It got to be so radiant that I could hardly look at it. As it came nearer to me, I realized it was not a star at all, but an extremely bright and luminous gold cross.

One reason it flickered was because it was rotating on its axis. I could see there was something wrapped around it, but I couldn't tell what it was at first. Then I realized the only reason I could gaze at the cross at all was because it had grape leaves draped over it. It reminded me of South Dakota Gold. The grape leaves kept me from being blinded by the intense brilliance of the cross. The other reason it flickered really brightly at times was that as it was coming towards the earth, it also seemed to be growing larger and then getting smaller. Even though it was a considerable distance from me, as it came closer, I could see that it split from being just one cross, to three crosses, and then to seven crosses! The One Cross was always in the center. The crosses on the right side went behind the center cross and the crosses on the left side went in front of it in a straight line. They then moved in the opposite direction outwardly. This is how the three became seven crosses, and then they became three crosses again, then back into the One Cross. The whole time they were each spinning on their own axis. The crosses moved in this fashion the entire time they approached the earth. They each had grape leaves draped over them and I could see the stars in the background. It was a magnificent sight!

When I woke up from the 'nap' I went in and told my missionary friends about this dream. They each in turn shared with me what they thought the dream meant. Then I awoke from the dream.

I do believe the simplest interpretation of this dream is that Christ is returning to the earth. Even though the crosses were still far off, I could see their approach and felt the urgency of teaching the Gospel before Jesus' return.

Here are some other thoughts in interpreting this dream:

God Almighty is symbolized in the One Cross representing Unity and Primacy as the All Sufficient One. God is All-Powerful and Supreme. He is The Way, The Truth, The Life and none come to the Father but through Christ. The cross is symbolic of the method used to slay the Lamb of God.

The Three Crosses reflect God's divine completeness and perfection. Three represents the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God is omnipresent, omniscience, and omnipotent. He completes all time in the past, present and future; though He is not subject to time. He is the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; Peter, James, and John. Jonah was in the belly of the great fish three days, and he was a foreshadowing of Christ rising from the dead in divine perfection on the third day. Jesus validated Jonah's testimony in Matthew 12:40 and again in 16:4. It also states in 1 John 5:7-8, "For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. And there are three who bear witness on the earth: the Spirit, the water and the blood. These agree as one."

The Seven Crosses denote spiritual perfection found in the Seven Spirits before his throne, and signify He is coming in fullness, strength and perfect power. The Seven Spirits are the Spirit of the Lord, the Spirit of Wisdom and Understanding, the Spirit of Counsel and Might, the Spirit of Knowledge and the Fear of the Lord. This is the sevenfold anointing of the Messiah. The Lamb of God slain before the foundation of the world, the Lion of the tribe of Judah is the only One who is worthy to open the scroll and to loose its seven seals. Having seven horns and seven eyes which are the seven Spirits of God sent out into all the earth. He alone is worthy to receive power and riches and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and blessing! Amen! These are the sevenfold ascriptions to Christ. See Isaiah 11:2 and Revelations 1:4; 4:5, 5:1-14.

He is the Vine and we are the branches. Grape leaves bring nourishment to the fruit of the vine. Grapes are the fruit which Jesus used in proclamation of the new covenant. We drink from the cup in remembrance of what Christ did for the remission of our sins. The grapes also represent Jesus' first miracle and the fruit of the Spirit. More practically in this dream, the grape leaves were used to veil the brilliance of God, so that I could see His return is near. The crosses were draped and shielded from full view to keep from blinding me. We know in part and prophecy in part. We know not when He will return, only the Father knows (Mark 13:32). We are to be doing our part, but only in obedience, in carrying out the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:18-20. We are to be aware that He is coming back as He promised He would do; however, we must also understand that He is slow in His return, as He doesn't desire anyone to perish. See 2 Peter 3:1-18. We are each responsible to be about our Father's business until Christ's return. The key is to walk in obedience and wisdom. Even Jesus had to wait and grow up before He could walk fully in His ministry.

The 'dream within a dream' seems to be symbolic of going deeper for revelation. In this part of the dream I was so exhausted. To this day I remember how tired my body felt as I asked the host if I could take a nap and how deeply I was sleeping. This brings to mind when Jesus said to Paul, "My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness." 2 Corinthians 12:9. This also reminds me of when Jesus told His disciples after an exhausting night of fishing to let out the nets and get ready for a haul. Deep calls unto deep! See Luke 5:4-10 and Psalm 42:7.

In this dream the Lord revealed His grace in a potent way. For me to ask God to show me something - and for Him to do it - was an amazing example of His love and grace. I just realized that I had been serving Christ for about five months when I had this dream, and it is interesting to me, as 5 is the number of Grace! All glory and honor to our God!

Another thing that I now see that I had not seen before is the significance of the date of this dream. July 14th or 7/14 is relevant to the Scripture that has been an essential word for our day found in 2 Chronicles 7:14, "If My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and forgive their sins and heal their land." For another dream and interpretation concerning the importance of seeking God's face you may click on http://etpv.org/2004/wmshf.html

If you feel you have something to add to this interpretation, please feel free to write me. When my friends shared their interpretations the Lord taught me how to sense when He is in the interpretation. Remember, Joseph was careful to teach us that interpretations of dreams belong to God. Also there is safety in the multitude of counselors. See Genesis 40:8 and Proverbs 11:14.

Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and our Lord Jesus Christ,

Judy

Hi HumbleBee...I fell asleep after lunch today and had this dream...:)

I am sitting at a park table and have been with my books...studying. It seems like low, flat ground...maybe amongst some shade trees...the ocean may be near by but I can't see it.

I see an old friend of min from High School. She is wearing a cast on her leg...she is lame and her vooice sounds wierd...whe tells me she is this way because she cannot "hear".

I tell her I ma just full of faith and I know someone who can fix her problem...who can heal her. She makes a face and says she is not interested and walks away. I am rejected, but it doesn't seem to bother me.

Now I see myself up on a much higher level...can see way down below where my books were...I don't know why I don't have the books with me and I am concerned to get them back.

But, I walk in a direction away from the books...I must lean hard...away from the edge of a cliff...I can feel pressures that are pushing me to fall over the edge.

Next I see I am on the street...there are a lot of storefronts (?) or rooms with glass windows and people are behind the windows...like ticket counters...I ask someone how can I find my books?

I am told to go into the interior decorating room (?)...in there a lady is uncovering a table laid with sweet deserts...I say I have already eaten...those look good but I am full.

I also see my friend in there...she is still cold and rejecting to me...but I don't care...she is not hurting me.

Then I am given 2 tokens (?)...shield looking things...sort of a memento for being in there. Thes tokes looks like a soft plastic sort od material with emblems imprented in them....I've tried to bind them around my neck and they have multiplied...then the lady is trying to fasten one to cover my foot...that is when I wake up.

angelwind said:
***I am sitting at a park table and have been with my books...studying. It seems like low, flat ground...maybe amongst some shade trees...the ocean may be near by but I can't see it.***

This seems to confirm that you been parked at the Word, to get more deeply grounded in the wisdom of God's living and powerful Word. You been hidden under the shadow of the Almighty with the Holy Spirit whom you cannot see.

Colossians 3:16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Psalm 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

John 16:13 Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will shew you things to come.

***I see an old friend of mine from High School. She is wearing a cast on her leg...she is lame and her voice sounds weird...whe tells me she is this way because she cannot "hear". I tell her I am just full of faith and I know someone who can fix her problem...who can heal her. She makes a face and says she is not interested and walks away. I am rejected, but it doesn't seem to bother me.***

High School tends to represent being in the School of the Spirit. Stretching...your old friend could represent the church of old? A cast is an artificial, manmade support, so could indicate a church supported only by manmade doctrine, making the Christian walk regimented, awkward, and difficult. Since out of the abundance of the heart, one's mouth speaketh, her voice sounding weird could symbolize someone that doesn't know the Truth, so therefore cannot hear Jesus. The church and some Christians (your old friend too?) may be so severely broken that they are temporarily inconsolable and not willing to receive from the Holy Spirit, their Resident Comforter. It is Jesus, the Great Physician, not you, whom the church of old and offended Christians in their pride, have rejected. You wisely and rightly did not take the rebuff personally.

Exodus 6:9 And Moses spake so unto the children of Israel: but they hearkened not unto Moses for anguish of spirit, and for cruel bondage.

Luke 10:16 “He who listens to you listens to Me; he who rejects you rejects Me; but he who rejects Me rejects Him who sent Me.”

***Now I see myself up on a much higher level...can see way down below where my books were...I don't know why I don't have the books with me and I am concerned to get them back.***

Seems to speak of spiritual promotion and transition. Getting comfortable with your new placement, new position in the Body. Jesus be expanding your territory from the secret place of study to out in the open where you can shine for His glory! :holy:

Psalm 18:19 He brought me out into a spacious place; He rescued me because He delighted in me.

Psalm 37:3-7 Trust in the LORD, and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him...

Psalm 45:7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.

Matthew 5:14-16 You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.

***But, I walk in a direction away from the books...I must lean hard...away from the edge of a cliff...I can feel pressures that are pushing me to fall over the edge.***

Stretching...With God Most High seemingly about to take you out of your comfort zone, you must lean much on Him...totally trusting Him to guide you and prevent you from falling back, being pushed back, into circumstances from which He delivered you. Spiritual forces may have tried to keep you hidden and make you worry about your life. Even your flesh may resist, however, Jesus be Sovereign and Supreme over you, preserving you for His purposes!

Psalm 41:2-3 The LORD will protect [you] and preserve [your] life; He will bless [you] in the land and not surrender [you] to the desire of [your] foes. The LORD will sustain [you] on [your] sickbed and restore [you] from [your] bed of illness.

Psalm 118:13-17 I was pushed back and about to fall, but the LORD helped me. The LORD is my strength and my song; He has become my salvation. Shouts of joy and victory resound in the tents of the righteous: "The LORD's right hand has done mighty things! The LORD's right hand is lifted high; the LORD's right hand has done mighty things!" I will not die but live, and will proclaim what the LORD has done.

Jeremiah 29:11-14 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you seek Me with all your heart. I will be found by you," declares the LORD...

***Next I see I am on the street...there are a lot of storefronts (?) or rooms with glass windows and people are behind the windows...like ticket counters...I ask someone how can I find my books? I am told to go into the interior decorating room (?)... in there a lady is uncovering a table laid with sweet deserts...I say I have already eaten...those look good but I am full. I also see my friend in there...she is still cold and rejecting to me...but I don't care...she is not hurting me.***

Stretching, all this seems to symbolize being in a mainstream church that purports false teaching. A street with lots of stores would be a mainstreet. People behind glass windows could represent superficial Christians. Ticket counters, symbolizing legalism. Here searching for your books, could signify that you looking for the truth and you are told to go see the leadership, the bowels (interior) of the church. The hearts of the leadership would influence what you see in the people. Since wisdom is likened to a woman in proverbs, the lady could be the Voice of Wisdom. Uncovering speaks of revealing something that been hidden...the Voice of Wisdom is revealing the church of old has deserted Christ and sweet talked many into doing the same! You are full of Jesus and His Truth with no appetite for feel good, pleasant to the ears false teaching that being offered. Your Lord fully loves and accepts you, so it doesn't matter about how others snub and mistreat you.

***Then I am given 2 tokens (?)...shield looking things...sort of a momento for being in there. These tokens look like a soft plastic sort of material with emblems imprinted in them....I've tried to bind them around my neck and they have multiplied...then the lady is trying to fasten one to cover my foot...that is when I wake up.***

This verses seems to apply and exhort the prolonging of your life!

Proverbs 3:1-8 21-24...do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity. Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man. Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones...let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion: So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to thy neck. Then shalt thou walk in thy way safely, and thy foot shall not stumble. When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.

Hi Humblebee (and everyone else too!) I'd appreciate an interpretation of the following dream, just to start. I have a lot of dreams so maybe I'll post another one at some point soon.

I dreamt that I was walking through a big courtyard. It's the kind that has the walls all around with perhaps pillars too, and a stone floor. It was quite expansive. There was a man over to the right, speaking in a loud, proclaiming tone to some peope who were laying on matts (or perhaps they were laying on hospital beds?) The man was saying, "There are two kinds of wisdom..." and his tone was rich and magnificient. He looked Greek. He spoke more but I couldn't hear what he was saying because I proceeded past him and in to a doorway along the far side of the courtyard.

Inside the room there were many glass cases full of scrolls inside ornate scroll cases (the kind the look like a tube). There were so many beautiful ornate scrolls and I didn't know what most of them contained. There were men in the shop who worked there. I can only describe them as Jewish in appearance (I believe that they were dressed like observant Jews do today). They looked at me but didn't approach or offer assistance. I thought they might think I had no money to pay for anything in the shop because everything was so expensive. Then I saw in one case that there were two scrolls, each marked about the same price. I could only afford one though. One of them was a "Jesus scroll" and one of them was a "Mary scroll". I stood there feeling very indecisive about which one to buy because I wanted them both.

(note: There wasn't really too much going on in my life at the time. I was just trying to be a good disciple and study my bible, pray, seek after God, etc.)

whatseekye,

Your dream tiz surely a teaching tool. :D Will answer partially here and partially in pm, as the second part may offend some readers.

Since a courtyard is usually adjoined to a building, it tends to symbolize being adjoined in ministry! So surmising that Jesus be adjoining you more to, grounding (stone floor) you more in His Word and Wisdom to prepare you for future ministry! Being filled with Wisdom from above will bring stability (pillars) to your faith, ministry, and life!

Isaiah 33:6 And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the LORD is His treasure.

The people laying on matts could either represent those who are humble (lowly), who patiently listen, and heed the Voice of Wisdom (Jesus!). Could also signify that being wise (heeding our Lord) and being humble will lead to your health and longevity! As these Scriptures exhort:

Proverbs 3:1-8 ...do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart, for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.

Proverbs 9:10-11 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. For through me your days will be many, and years will be added to your life.

The man over to the right symbolizes he on the side of righteousness, so follow his lead. The rich and magnificient tone of his voice and his loudness both confirm the crucial importance of what he had to say! :preach: Significiant invaluable Words of Wisdom that should make you stop in your tracks and listen up! ;) Yet you proceeded past him, oblivious to missing Wisdom that is priceless and more beneficial than what could ever be bought! Read proverbs and psalms to get a better notion about the matchless blessings of wisdom!

Proverbs 4:5-7 Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or swerve from them. Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you. Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.

The 2 kinds of wisdom speak of these verses. One bears bad fruit (people that go their own way), the other good fruit (people that constantly look to Jesus for guidance and heed Him):

James 3:13-18 Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom. But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such “wisdom” does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peaceloving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness.

Second part sent via pm.

I cleared out my message box, so any private messages should now come through. Thanks. This is very interesting, and I appreciate your taking the time.

An additional comment. The quote from the book of James led me to look for a teaching on the internet. I found a quote of an ancient writer named who said of James:

James, the brother of our Lord, as there were many with his name, was surnamed "the Just" by all from the days of our Lord until now. He received the government of the church with the apostles. He drank neither wine nor strong drink and abstained from animal food and a razor never came upon his head. He never wore woolen but only fine linen garments. He was in the habit of entering into the temple alone and was often found upon his bended knees asking for the forgiveness of the people so that his knees became hard like a camel's knees as the consequence of his habitual supplication and kneeling before God.
-Hegesippus (a.d. 170, early church chronicler)

I thought it was interesting that it says he went in to the temple alone very often to ask forgiveness of the people. That's why they called him "the Just": old Greek definition of justice that defends the people.

Not sure this really has anything to do with the interpretation though. Just thought it was interesting. James, the brother of Jesus, who tells us of the 2 kinds of wisdom. Of course the True Wisdom is Jesus the Christ.

There's a whole story recorded in a fragment of Hegesippus about the martyrdom of James which ends with this line "This man was a true witness to both Jews and Greeks that Jesus is the Christ"

Well, it is me again...this dream came this week, it is interesting to me because "others" are seen in this dream.

I see what looks like a "formed" group of people coming out of the (a?) church. I thought they were a choir at first...but they are not in robes...all the same. But they seem of one heart and mind...going together.

I also see a man in black and white (the Holy Spirit). I tell him I can't "do" anything and don't fit in the programs.

He said I could "talk"...and it dawned on me...yes...I have a gift for talking with people...even strangers, it is easy for me.

It seems I'm on a high level "floor" of some kind,,,close to the man it is firm and safe.

I have what looks like a bag of dog kibble and water has gotten into it...I go over to the edge to pour out the water and realize the floor over here is slanting out...I feel paralyzed and lean hard with my back to the wall to keep from falling.

Next all these people...and myself jump into cars and get on the freeway...we are headed for our destinations.

I see a beautiful foot...my foot (?) or the foot is in another car. The foot is bare and the toes are pretty...it is a bride's foot.

I realize each person is dressed according to their purpose and destiny.

Hugs angelwind! Really appreciate your posting patronage! :) What an inspiring dream! It does seem a sequel to your previous dream, showing progress! Comments herein...

***Well, it is me again...this dream came this week, it is interesting to me because "others" are seen in this dream. I see what looks like a "formed" group of people coming out of the church. I thought they were a choir at first...but they are not in robes...all the same. But they seem of one heart and mind...going together.***

The people coming out of the church could well represent true believers being called out of false churches! Their being of one heart and mind is because they following the True Christ, confirmed by these verses...

Romans 15:5-6 May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Christ Jesus, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

***I also see a man in black and white (the Holy Spirit). I tell him I can't "do" anything and don't fit in the programs. He said I could "talk"...and it dawned on me...yes...I have a gift for talking with people...even strangers, it is easy for me.***

The Holy Spirit is going before you encouraging that first, you are not supposed to fit into the legalistic programs that have bound up His people in religiously regimented services. You are not to do as some have done, trying to dazzle audiences with flamboyant preaching that is actually void of any spiritual value and nourishment. Do what Jesus has gifted you to do, speaking to anyone and everyone about Him with your sincerity of heart! :D

***It seems I'm on a high level "floor" of some kind, close to the man it is firm and safe.***

Seems a Divine foretelling of you preaching with the Holy Spirit right at your side, giving you peace, faith, and confidence, as there certainly Divine Protection in humbly doing God's Will! You did well and wisely to stay close to the Holy Spirit! :holy:

***I have what looks like a bag of dog kibble and water has gotten into it...I go over to the edge to pour out the water and realize the floor over here is slanting out...I feel paralyzed and lean hard with my back to the wall to keep from falling.***

Kibble is obviously a reward for a dog having done something right and could refer to performance based faith...one trying to earn their salvation (healing...), as well as trying to gain God's love and even the approval of others, through personal performance. In the midst of rejection, this would make one's faith mushy, unstable and cause them to slide into fear. As shown in your other dream, your being rejected is not because you did anything wrong, but only because the person was rejecting Christ speaking through you. If you base your faith solely on how positively or negatively people respond to your messages, then fear will have an inroad to usurp your faith and put you on a spiritual and emotional rollercoaster. Full of a joyous faith when they accept your ministry and totally tapped out when they don't. Lack of audience approval doesn't at all confirm lack of anointing, though if taken to heart, unreceptivity would cause worrying about having heard God correctly to start with or wondering what could have been said or should have been done differently to get a 'better' reception. So no need to fear lack of approval, when you in the favor of the King of kings and Lord of lords! When you been 'backed up against the wall' of hard hearts, lean humbly and heavily on Him who loves you.

Isaiah 41:10 Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of My righteousness.

***Next all these people...and myself jump into cars and get on the freeway...we are headed for our destinations. I see a beautiful foot...my foot (?) or the foot is in another car. The foot is bare and the toes are pretty...it is a bride's foot. I realize each person is dressed according to their purpose and destiny.***

This speaks of Divine Commissioning! Being liberated to do what you born and thoroughly equipped to do all for the glory of Christ! The beautiful foot could symbolize preaching the true Gospel! These verses be confirming food for thought...

John 5:41, 44 I do not accept praise from men...How can you believe if you accept praise from one another, yet make no effort to obtain the praise that comes from the only God?

John 7:16-18 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not Mine, but His that sent Me. If any man will do His will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of Myself. He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh His glory that sent Him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.

John 12:42-43 But because of the Pharisees they would not confess their faith for fear they would be put out of the synagogue; for they loved praise from men more than praise from God.

Romans 1:13-15 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Ephesians 2:8-10 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

I had this dream a few days ago...

I am in a place where I see lots of people...maybe a school getting out for the day...but it is like a world gone wild. I keep telling them God is a God of order...but the people think this is freedom.

Then I am on a fast moving train...I can see ahead, down the track that a big boulder is on the tack and the train will hit it head on. I tell the people what is ahead...but they just laugh...this ride is supposed to be like this they say...sort of like a Disneyland ride.

Then I see a large green cat. Lying on it's side...it's head is up and it is looking at me. I pet this cat a bit...and am remarking in the dream about it color being green.
The there is another green cat...lying there sort of next to the first cat...they are very relaxed.

Those people appear to be on a collision course with Christ, the Rock of Ages! Train as in train of thoughts also could symbolize the mind. The world certainly has an erroneous mindset, thinking that lawlessness is true liberty.

Galatians 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

2 Timothy 3:1-5 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.

1 Peter 4:4-5 Wherein they think it strange that ye run not with them to the same excess of riot, speaking evil of you: Who shall give account to Him that is ready to judge the quick and the dead.

***Then I see a large green cat. Lying on it's side...it's head is up and it is looking at me. I pet this cat a bit...and am remarking in the dream about it color being green. The there is another green cat...lying there sort of next to the first cat...they are very relaxed.***

The cats relaxed could symbolize spiritual complacency both in the world and in the church. Since green could symbolize envy and also the color of money, in a general sense these verses seem fitting...

Psalm 37:1-2 Do not fret because of evil men or be envious of those who do wrong; for like the grass they will soon wither, like green plants they will soon die away.

Proverbs 23:15-19 ...if your heart is wise, then my heart will be glad; my inmost being will rejoice when your lips speak what is right. Do not let your heart envy sinners, but always be zealous for the fear of the LORD. There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off. Listen...and be wise, and keep your heart on the right path.

Matthew 6:19-21 Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also...No one can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money.

1 Timothy 6:6-10, 17-19 But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs...Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life. :amen:
