These are difficult times. Yet God is still God and is still working to bring about His kingdom. I was delighted to read this snippet in "Eternity" news.
"Peter Walker is a Bundjalung man from the Northern Rivers district of NSW, head of the Australian Indigenous Ministries and who was pastor at Redfern Indigenous Church for ten years. He tells a story of visiting Alice Springs and getting a vision that told of the need for repentance. “Now I had asked the Lord in praying and said, ‘Lord … the land is so dry. Has it been always like this?’ … I’m sure there was no question as to the Holy Spirit trying to speak to me, to know that it has not been always like this – but it is because [of] the sins of your forefathers, meaning my ancestors and the Indigenous ancestors and forefathers.”"
When I started reading, I thought we were in for another white settler bashing. I am glad that I was wrong. Yes, the early settlers had much to answer for, but Aboriginal culture is at its heart occult. There is nothing noble or intrinsically good about any culture. The courage of Mr Walker to accept that Aborigines need to repent is a marvel. No doubt he will be judged and criticised by the world. Mr Walker is seeking a "solemn assembly", which will be forthcoming.
Australia does not have the Christian heritage enjoyed (and now being denied) by many European nations and the USA. If God can raise this man up in Australia, there is hope everywhere!
