Lifted Up
Psalm 37:7... Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for Him;
Psalm 40:1-3... I waited patiently for the LORD ; He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; He set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD .
How do you handle dark moments? Times when you want to give up and give in to despair, times when you are weighed down with worry and care?
My first impulse is to cry out in frustration or complain or take some kind of action. Yet, look at these verses, they seem to say to cry out to the Lord and then wait in silence for Him to come to you. Sometimes that is very hard to do, sit in silence, when you want to scream or cry out in frustration. Sit in silence when you feel desperate. Sit in silence and wait. Wait for what?
Wait...
for the Lord to come and lift you up - out of your darkness and place your feet on the Rock. After your feet are firmly on the Rock - the Lord then gives you a 'new song' and turns your darkness into His praise.
In the process you become more Christ-like...
more than you can be on your own.
You Raise Me Up
Josh Groban
When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary;
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.
You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up: To more than I can be.
___________
Psalm 40:11... Do not withhold your mercy from me, O LORD ; may your love and your truth always protect me.
Lord, when we find ourselves weighed down, burdened, surrounded by darkness, help us each remember to cry out to You and then wait in silence for You to come and lift us up. Thank You for Your mercy, truth and love, help us each be open to You. Thank You that as we wait for You, You will come, lift us up and make us each more than we can be on our own. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Hi - thank you so much! So often we try to do it "on our own" but have to realize that God often asks us to "wait". God bless - Hedi
