  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Where are the proceeds from this project going?
I have not found that out, nor am I looking, however, since the people involved are hardly atheistic in nature, I would presume that a portion of what is received will be going to the work of the God of the Universe.

Can't say as I agree. I find either-or thinking to be irrational and actually underlying many neurotic symptoms. Reality is always a shade of grey. The fact one part of the Bible may be questioned does not mean everything else is all wrong and has to be dumped. As far as picking and choosing goes, we all have to do that. Take all the OT laws, for example. How many do you follow? Do you eat [pork? That's a no-no in the OT. Would you sell your daughter into slavery? That is sanctified and OK in the OT. Do you believe in polygamy? That, too, is sanctified in the OT. If you are honest and come right down to it, you have been very selective in what laws you follow, as we all are.
Everything has to be taken in the situation. The Old Testament is there and was there long before the New Testament was even thought about being written. The Old Testament was the law of the land in the days up to and even when Christ was on the earth. Christ however changed a lot of things sanctioned in the Old Testament, specifically the need to bring an unblemished lamb as an offering to God for the forgiveness of sins, since Christ became that sacrificial 'lamb'. Hence the Old Testament is more of an historic account - before and after, as it were. Nonetheless, it is ALL still the written word of God, so if you cannot believe ALL of it, who decides what you believe?

And it's their chosen lifestyle.

It was my brothers---didn't matter how much help was given him---he used up everything on drugs and booze and would always end up eating out of garbage cans and sleeping on the streets---my husband had a brother like that also---both died young, my brother was 50 his around 54. I've known many like this. My parents kept trying to help him, it was no use, he'd sell anything given for drugs--he'd steal to get stuff to sell for drugs. I had to refuse him money--it broke our hearts, but even my parents finally learned to give him no money or gifts, including clothing. It was the equivelent of buying him drugs. They refuse rehab help.

Sadly we are unable to agree on an answer to this problem. Maybe it will burn itself out when it runs out of fuel.

Awesome, heard about that project, nice to see pictures of the work.
I think that it is a very worthy endeavor as some have observed: this is an age of widespread teaching and acceptance of evolution...the teaching of no accountability to a (or rather "the") God. The sinful human nature loves this teaching and feeds on it. When we review II Thessalonians we recognize its danger and its possible potentials...
II Thessalonians 2:3-4:
Don’t let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction. He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.
(Seems to me evolution teaching goes a long way to undermining worship of God...paves the way for the antichrist.)
Saving souls is more important than the feeding of the bodies...both should be done, but spiritual needs come first. Thanks for posting!

This lifesize Noah's Ark sure wouldn't be big enough to hold and support the vast amount of species if there was a world wide flood.

I don't think there has been any Ship that could keep millions and millions of species alive.

You're thinking of species of today... where many species have common ancestors. So if you go back up the chain, you no longer have a problem. I highly recommend that you visit the Ark Encounter to see for yourself and understand.

What's your alternative? Disbelieving Noah's flood? That's not a good place to be (2 Peter 3:3-9).

Even if this creationist version of kinds existed, there would still be to big of a diversity of life on earth to fit into an Ark. There would also be issues of animals requiring different things (not all herbivores eat same food, then there are meat eaters) and separate habitats to survive (not all animals can live in the same climate). Then there are issues with the low population and a destroyed land from the flood would prevent them from creating the animal world we know of. Also super super evolution isn't a thing. New species would not come about at a fast rate.

God created the animals (and people) vegetarian to start with. And since He had a specific purpose for each animal (two for multiplication and five extra of the clean animals for a post-flood sacrifice), the animals were obviously vegetarian on the ark. It was only after the flood that men were permitted to eat meat.

It sounds like you are just making excuses not to believe.

That's why I urge you to go there and see that the ark was big enough to fit the kinds. Your alternative is to disbelieve the Bible, which is not wise.

I don't agree at all. I think evolution would be impossible without God, and many Christians have no trouble reconciling evolution with their faith. Saying tha revolution paves the way for the Antichrist seems to be a statement better suited to fanatical propaganda than serious theological discussion.
