  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Life or Death?

Let's think about death. If we were to add in the premature deaths such as diseases, auto accidents, crime, and war, the mortality rate seems to be rising. For example, the life expectancy for average Americans is 72 years. In undeveloped parts of the world the life expectancy is as low as 35 years. The average life expectancy for the world's population is 66 years. Therefore, if we didn't have such a disproportionate number of newborns being added to our population, we would probably have a mortality rate of 1 out of every 66 people.

The death rate calculated by multiplying the current world's population (6.339 billion) by the mortality rate (.883%) shows us that 56.0 million people will probably die this year. This number divided by the number of seconds in a year (31,536,000) shows us that on an average, 1.78 people will die every second. When we consider these "facts" during discussions about the unfortunate death rate of those who are defending liberty in Iraq, we realize that everything is "relative" in matters of life and death.

Remember, time is running out for "1.78" people every second. Maybe we should keep ourselves updated on how many people died from bathtub accidents, drug overdoses, abortion and AIDS in America since the war started? Maybe we should think about how many souls went to Heaven or Hell during the time it takes to read this simple message?

I pray that Christians in all nations will begin to feel a sense of urgency as they reach out to strangers who might need to learn about Jesus.

Jesus is God, repent or perish!

your right urgency!!! Lets turn to God and not G Dubbs.

Cant save a sould and liberate it if its dead because of an American Bomb. Time for missionarys instead of snipers!!!!!

Urgency and a call to bring the gospel not our bombs!!!

Can't save that 1.76 souls if their being blown up!!

URGENT URGENT!!! We must pull out now we must bring peace and liberty through Jesus not through Washington!

Love brother ~Justin~ <><

I was wondering what the point to the original post was. I finally saw it. Urgency is fine and dandy, but making others feel that it is an urgent thing may work against you.

By the same token, If Americans have on average 72 years to decide to accept Jesus then why is it so hard for some to accept that people do go to hell?

Because 72 years compared to eternity is not a comparison, it is vindictive and petty.
