NYPD Detective Sam Tyler (Jason O'Mara) finds himself in the cultural hotbed of 1973 New York City in the tumultuous times of the Vietnam War, Watergate, women's lib and the civil and gay rights movements - without a cell phone, computer, PDA or MP3 player -- suddenly hurtled back in time when he's ripped from 2008 after being hit by a car while chasing down a criminal. He's trying mightily to understand what has just happened to him and how he can get back "home."

1973 ?
Will he stop Roe v. Wade from happening?

Just seen the trailers. I suppose the novelty lies in it being translated to 70s America, but I'm not sure how the new Gene Hunt will compare to the scene-stealing Philip Glenister. I've still yet to see The Omen remake and that looks like a carbon copy too.

I liked the premier episode, but the 1973 cops are SO incredibly obnoxious and unlikable. I think they are going to have to make these characters more relatable, or they're going to be grating before too long.

I think they want to slap you in the face with the 70's.
They want you to feel the change from 2008 to 1973.
The premier episode needs to have that feeling.
It will most likly fade away in later episodes.

I watched the show premiere and I am not sure how I feel about it. It was interesting, but, like someone else said, the 70s cops were so obnoxious. I did like that they did not seem to "dumb down" the mysteries in it so much, which friends of mine who watched the British original were afraid of.

I might give it another try this week!
