Everyone is physically dying every second: cells in your body die all the time, we just keep growing them back, with the exception of brain cells of course. Jesus did not die right when he took the sins of this world. there was at least enough time to fill a sponge with vinegar and give it to Jesus drink before he died physically, if he would have died spiritually he could not have been perfect and therefore not have saved us from damnation.
