I was just wondering because some preists do no expect or even accept a lifetime confession from former Catholics as long as they took their cnfession and absolution seriously. Others do expect it... so i was just bringing this up so IP could check on this IN CASE he hadn't already.

What I was required to do at my Chrismation, and my priest made sure I did it under my own free will, was to make a profession of my faith. He was much more interested in the fact that I was uniting myself to Orthodoxy than having me give a lifetime confession because he knew I had been a devout Catholic.
Xpycoctomos said:yeah, that's how my priest feels about it (with Catholics) as long as they took it seriously then. He actually even agrees in theory with th idea that if someone is getting baptized into the OC, that they do not HAVE to make a ifetime confession becuase of baptism being for the Remission of sins... but he says that pastorally he feels compelled to urge them to do so because there is an unspeakable benefit in a lifetime confession (despite it's dauntingness... is that a word) for those (like myself before i became Orthodox) who had never done a real confession.
Xpycoctomos said:agreed. I'm sure there are some reasons (taht Im not aware of) to deny someone of this opportunity.. but in the end I think for 99% of the people, it would be a a wonderful (and almost indispensible) blessing.
