• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Ever since I cut back lurking and posting here in CF, my life is more productive and less stressful. I even started setting up my "pre-retirement" home-based bookkeeping business. I am planning to start a business this year so when I retire in about 2 years, I will have a second income along with my pension.

I am doing my own biblical study and research without getting into debates with others. :holy:

Now, I just lurk most of the time and post less.

I don't miss debating, especially politics.

Real life comes first and I find that getting on the internet can be REAL time consuming.

Glad you have a plan for retirement. I have about 5 years to go yet for sure.

I've had less time to spend on forums lately and I've found it to be a positive thing too. I find I care a lot less about the drama. It's a better balance for me. It's far too easy to care too much about something as silly as a forum. There's no way anything on the Internet should have so much power over how my day goes! lol

Yes. Debating over petty issues consumed my time rather than being productive in "good debates".

I am eligible to retire in 2 years but probably will work for 5 more years. However, I am starting a business to get my feet grounded so I can be ready financially by the time I retire.

Yes, drama consumes people's lives. I found drama not productive, in fact, they are so negative that it breeds other areas of our lives.

I've been doing the same Jim, but I do miss the friendship stuff, but more importantly I'm talking to my wife more, and she is, well, pretty important to me. :)

And how young would you be in 5 years? ;) Glad to see you were promoted to an Admin, you deserve it  I'm still mulling around whether to return to staff this winter,

Due to some Christians who bicker and not really compliant to the rules, I chose not to be moderator. I just don't have the patience.^_^
