  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I have read that students often have a difficult time transferring credits from Liberty to other schools and that some graduate schools will not accept the undergrad credits (e.g. the degree!). I don't think this is a school that is going to look good on anyone's resume, unless you are applying for a job at an evangelical church. :preach:

Or a Republican PAC. Haha.

Personally my money would never go to anything that Jerry Falwell founded, but I have heard they are supposed to be a good school.

Departments often look course-by-course for equivalents. If you have five theology courses and a department does not require theology, then they might have nowhere to put your credits. A course or two might go into the leftover liberal arts area; but a liberal arts student might already have those slots filled up. And the liberal arts department might require groupings of concentrations that they already offer.

So it might be a matter of proper fit, no different from transferring archaeology courses to an engineering program. The new/second school wants to make sure you take what you need to complete their degree.

Graduate programs can require additional undergraduate coursework from anyone. If a school denies credit from an accredited school, then make sure that you ask them why. A faculty member might have loosely made a statement on-the-spot without knowing about the college.

In some schools, your transcript will go through admissions first, then liberal arts, then the department. Decisions can be made at each step along the way. If the department declines the credit, the school still might accept it.

I have one class left to finish my Bachelor's in Religion at LU Online. It kicked my behind.

My son is transferring from LUO to the University of Colorado-Denver. He's had no problem transferring his credits at all. His theology classes are transferring as electives, but his major classes went one for one.

I did a semester at LUO and loved the experience, except I had come from a more rigorous, Catholic university so I found the course work to not be quite as challenging as I was used to (granted I was in 200-level not 300- and 400-level classes). I am debating now whether to attend Liberty as a residential student now... Great Christian school! Especially if you lean conservative in politics.
