Lexapro

Hi,

I'm thinking of taking meds because my depression is getting really bad again. Basically I'm to take meds or my counselor is recommending I go to the hospital. So, I'm on the med thing. Anyways, have anyone of you heard of Lexapro? If so, what have you heard of it?

Actually...I took it for a while. It didn't work for me...but then that doesn't mean anything, we are all different....so...try it...there are many others out there also.

Lexapro has a low side effect profile....but it can affect sexual performance somewhat, as do all SSRI's

lol, I don't need to worry about sexual performance, I'm not even married Thanks for your reply though I nearly positive I'm going to make an appointment with my last psychiatrist that hurt me emotionally (I do have to forgive) and get on meds. It's a great way to kick satan in the rear end and keeping me alive for the sake of Christ.

.....curious as to how the psychiatrist hurt you emotionally?

Well, the frist time I saw her she gave me Lexapro... that week someone told me something bad about it and I thought I'd talk to her about it, and the next week when I had the appointment I brought up the bad things that I heard of it and she called me stupid and crazy. That day I wasn't doing well and that just made me suicidal and not wanting to take the meds. Therefore, I haven't been back since she did this in October.

did she actually call YOU stupid and crazy....or did she say THAT was stupid and crazy?......I'm not trying to defend her, obviously since I don't know her or wasn't there, but maybe in your depressed state, you were a bit sensitive and took the comment about the Lexapro personally?.....anyway, since you have access to a computer, it may be best to google for info yourself instead of asking non-medical people for info...you will just get second hand stories and opinions......

When you go back to see her, will you be able to tell her that your last visit was upsetting to you, and maybe work through that?.....Do you get any counseling in addition?.....

Yes, she told me that. I'm in counseling and he's not been happy at me for the last few weeks because they have been suicide talk sessions (himi convincing me suicide is not the answer and me signing a new no-harm contract, I have so many of them it's horrible). I told her i was upset about it in the hallway when she started talking about my depression and anxiety in the hallway very loudly and people in the waiting room were looking at me like I was crazy when I started crying when I left planning on to kill myself. Why do things always go bad for me? I can't do anything right at all. I'm a total loser.

I cant' do anything right. I am a total loser. I have no friends. What's even the use to stay alive? I need to go to bed. I'm so tired and I'm so depressed and I'm so lonely. I need to sleep. I'll post more in the morning

You've recently done some things VERY right! I won't give out stuff in public that you might want to keep to yourself, but you should be proud of yourself!
