now that Randy Orten is a face (i.e. has a personality) I kinda like him...I've been watching since the Freebirds and the Von Erichs...yes...I'm old...
The Freebirds and Von Erichs-I remember them. Also, hailing from North Texas I was always a big fan of the Von Erich brothers-such a sad family though, and people say that the Kennedys are cursed
I've been watching wrestling since I was a little girl, then dropped out of it for sometime in the 90's. I got back into it when I was in college. My grandmother introduced me and my brother to it.
Favourites are/were Shawn Michaels, Randy Orton-who I've always been a fan of (what girl isn't a fan of RKO!), Kurt Angle, Rey Mysterio, Bret Hart, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Molly Holly, Andre the Giant, Chris Jericho, Brutus Beefcake, Muhammad Hassan, Roddy Piper, Mihcael Hayes, Triple HHH, Batista, Von Erichs (favourite was David), Ricky Steamboat, Nikolai Volkoff, Iron Sheik, and too many more to list.
What I dislike: the storylines are predictable (
especially on RAW) or boring (
especially on Smackdown!), the various vignettes (
most wrestlers can't act), Jerry Lawler, Jim Ross-I really do not like Sooners and I throughly enjoyed watching him being attacked by Hassan on his birthday hehehehehe! The divas-I don't like women being exploited. The bright spot is Trish Stratus though-she can be really funny at times just like JBL on Smackdown!
Last but not least wrestling today is simply not believable. I remember even when McMahon outright said that wrestling was fixed I continued to deny that it was not! During the FEDERATION years the fueds, wrestling, vignettes, et. al were all believable. I feel kind of sorry for the "refs"-they look so incompetent and stupid, and is a person that weak to be "knocked out" by being smashed into a wrestler???
Because of this and other things I'm beginning to be drawn to real sports like the UFC, NCAA/Olympic wrestling, etc.
I agree the WWE would fare much better if there was a competitor on their level. Competition makes people strive to be better then the other guy and to make a quality product. I watched TNA this weekend-it's kind of hard to get into because they have an octagon ring, and I don't know the storylines, but I'm glad to see Nash, DDP, etc.
Dizzy, I go to the Wrestlecrap forums.
