Psalm 66:18 - If I regard wickedness in my heart, the Lord will not hear.

Now, what is wickedness and why is it so important to God that what's in the heart is what matters? Because I just read in a different thread that two christians, with very opposing beliefs about sin, said they would pray for one another.

The key word here concerning the scripture is regard. Not sin, itself. That's what makes the difference in answered or unanswered prayer.

If you can visualize wickedness, evil, sin as a wooden privacy fence that grows as one harbors these things and continues in them. If we continue to knowingly act against His commands, then we just add another row to that fence. We might get glimpses through the cracks sometimes, or even jump up and briefly see Him on the other side, but while we keep that fence up we are only appeasing ourselves.

Wickedness probiably refers to things of this world.

To clarify, it is like God saying "do not keep the enemy in your heart" or "don't defend something that is not righteous"

The people that were going to "pray for each other" were trying to attain social dominance by being the "bigger man." (More likly than not)
