Yes. Along with dust and particulate matter. Eyebrows are the first line of defense, followed by eyelashes. But I'm of the opinion that eyebrows evolved so that cosmetic companies can sell overpriced eyebrow pencils and other eyebrow makeup.. My wife is a lifelong customer.

BTW, it's not very common, but in some people, shaved eyebrows don't grow back, or only partially regrow. If you ever have a laceration involving an eyebrow, you might refuse to have the eyebrow shaved before the wound is sutured. The face has a very good blood supply, so injuries generally heal quickly. And in most cases, any clean, facial wound up to 5 cm (about 2 inches) doesn't need stitches and will heal perfectly well with Dermabond (skin glue.)

I don't understand why they shave them off and then paint them back on. You can tell when they do that, fake eyelashes, fake eyebrows? Strange, is sort of like gender change?

Unless for medical reasons, to be blunt, vanity.

Same with beards, trimming them like a Pharoah, is vanity.
