  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Let's talk about the reason for certain features we have

He took the mark?

Not the mark you maybe thinking of, but the mark of innocence
has been granted.

If confronted with a wild beast as soon as it sees the mark, it will not attack.

That is why some survived being thrown to lions.

Have not tried it out though, hehe.

For instance, that dent under the nose above the lip. Everyone has one some small, some deep, etc. What did God have in mind. Catch mucous? I don't know.
Got any in mind? I've got lots.

The philtrum is the proper anatomic name for the vertical groove extending from the nasal septum to the upper lip. It's formed during embryogenesis by skin and subcutaneous tissue cells migrating from the right and left sides of the face and meeting in the midline. As for function, the philtrum may allow the upper lip to stretch during smiling, talking, and eating. But mostly, it's just a remnant of how the facial structures are formed. Defective fusion of right and left facial tissues results in cleft lip. Which is the most common craniofacial birth defect. And is sometimes accompanied by cleft palate, and requires surgical correction. The link has much more detail, but is very technical.

I guess eyebrows are to keep sweat out of your eyes
Yes. Along with dust and particulate matter. Eyebrows are the first line of defense, followed by eyelashes. But I'm of the opinion that eyebrows evolved so that cosmetic companies can sell overpriced eyebrow pencils and other eyebrow makeup.. My wife is a lifelong customer. :sigh:

BTW, it's not very common, but in some people, shaved eyebrows don't grow back, or only partially regrow. If you ever have a laceration involving an eyebrow, you might refuse to have the eyebrow shaved before the wound is sutured. The face has a very good blood supply, so injuries generally heal quickly. And in most cases, any clean, facial wound up to 5 cm (about 2 inches) doesn't need stitches and will heal perfectly well with Dermabond (skin glue.)

The first thing my sister taught me about those things is don't shave them. They won't grow back

No eyebrows, no "Wow".

Afterall, what is it that raises eyebrows?
I don't understand why they shave them off and then paint them back on. You can tell when they do that, fake eyelashes, fake eyebrows? Strange, is sort of like gender change?

Unless for medical reasons, to be blunt, vanity.

Same with beards, trimming them like a Pharoah, is vanity.
