The MCU, or Marvel Cinematic Universe, is an interconnected universe of superhero movies that include characters from the original Marvel comics. These characters, to name a few, include Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye, Ant-Man, and plenty others. Characters such as the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool are not included in the MCU because their rights are owned by Fox Entertainment.

Personally, I think the MCU has me looking foward to something every year. This year, I'm excited to see Captain America: Civil War. First off, it has Spider-Man (yay!) who has been missing from the MCU because of rights ownership by Sony Pictures. Now they've agreed to let Spider-Man join the MCU and have other characters join him in his own solo adventures. Also, it brings to life one of the most popular storylines from Marvel Comics in which superheroes battle each other over a controversial legislation requiring all masked vigilantes to register their identities and agree to work as government agents.

What do you guys think about the upcoming movies in the MCU, and if you want to talk about past films, the most recent one being Ant-Man, then feel free to do so!

Bring up any subject you want!

I'm looking forward to Civil War. But there are a couple of things regarding it that I'm not so sure about.
I can't wait to see the new Spider-Man but I really hope it's just a small cameo. From perusing the internet, it seems like everyone wants him to have the pivotal role that he had in the comics. But that would make absolutely no sense because he hasn't been a part of this world up until right now.

And here's the biggest issue I have: we really haven't seen Captain America and Iron Man being friends in the movies. There are little moments of them joking around with each other, but they've spent the majority of BOTH Avengers movies at odds. Why is it heartbreaking that they're fighting now? That's why the exchange:
"He was my friend"
"So was I."
just seems so out of place to me. We've seen very little interaction between those two that didn't involve some type of conflict.

I'm sorry to sound so negative lol; those are just some concerns I have that I thought would make for good discussion ^_^

I completely agree. There are rumors that the new Spider Man movie will have the subtitle Civil War as well, so maybe even if he has a cameo in Captain America, he might still have that pivotal role in his own movie, allowing for those famous moment from the comics like Spidey taking his mask off, or the movie could be an adaptation of "One More Day." But in the adaptation, he wouldn't be giving up his marriage so that Aunt May can live, he would probably just be giving up a short lived relationship with either Gwen Stacy or Mary Jane.

Ooh yeah, that would be interesting. One More Day in general just leaves a bad taste in my mouth. But I think it would be cool to see the post-Civil War Spidey stuff in the movies. I've heard rumors of Kraven the Hunter being the main villain.

He could be the one to shoot Aunt May.

newest trailer with spider-man cameo at the end!
I saw! He looks great, but I wish the mask didn't look so flat.. But it was awesome how he was introduced. "Underoos!"

too bad mcu didnt have the rights to the x-men and the fantastic four would have made a heckuva multi-film crossover.

I know. I think it would be hilarious if Deadpool came in and said "Oops, wrong franchise!"

doom is one of my all-time favorite marvel villians.

its a crying shame seriously!

Am I the only one who enjoyed the reboot of ff? No doubt, an mcu incarnation would be amazing, but the new one seemed pretty good for the most part. I just wish we could have seen Josh Trank's original cut with galactus

I just thought of something. What if Marvel is planning to make Spider-Man into the MCU's PG-13 version of Deadpool? I'm not talking in the sense of over-the-top violence or sexual references, I'm talking about the aspect of Deadpool where he cracks a lot of jokes and breaks the fourth wall. Where I'm getting this idea from is an article I read way back about a year ago where either Kevin Feige or Jon Watts, someone high up in Marvel, said in an interview that the new Spider-Man movie would resemble a John Hughes movie. If you don't know who that is, John Hughes is the director behind the film "Ferris Bueller's Day Off." In that film, the main character, Ferris Bueller, breaks the fourth wall many times, including during an after credits scene that would be later parodied in the recent film, Deadpool. Deadpool breaks the fourth wall constantly and makes pop culture references, similar to Ferris Bueller. Since the new Spider-Man reboot is going to resemble a John Hughes film, and Deadpool made a parody of the FBDO after credits scene at the end of the film, I believe Marvel is planning on making Spider-Man into a Bueller/Deadpool type of character, just with a more PG-13 level to it. Maybe he won't turn to the camera like Deapool does, but he could break the fourth wall similarly to the way he does in the cartoon "Ultimate Spider-Man" with himself pausing the scene to talk to the audience. This would be an interesting way to differ the new incarnation of Spider-Man from the previous films, and I, personally, think that this would make the character a lot funnier. Let me know what you think!

That's an interesting thought. I think Spider-Man may resemble Deadpool as far as the 'incessantly mocks his adversaries' thing goes but I'm not sure if they'll take it to breaking the fourth wall. John Hughes also directed The Breakfast Club, Sixteen Candles, and a lot of those beloved High School movies. I took that comment to mean the new Spider-Man movie would resemble the High School classics of yore.
I've never truly been able to get into the Spider-Man cartoons but I personally wouldn't be too excited about a Spider-Man movie that followed the footsteps of the Ultimate Spider-Man show lol. Unless it got a lot better than the last time I watched it, 3 years ago.

It's getting a little better, but yeah the voice acting needs work. What I was thinking the movie could be like is a sort of dry humor type movie. I would also like it if there was a mix between Amazing Spiderman and Daredevil in terms of fight style.

I enjoyed seeing Spiderman even though I lost interest in him. I didn't care for the silly robotic looking "zoom" eyes he had. Just felt weird. But at least his outfit is not redone yet again and more classic looking from the 90s.
I agree. I wish the eye expressions weren't so mechanical, but the look actually comes from the 60's spidey with a little modern flare.
