Regarding the subject of the First-Century Jewish religious sect known as the "Sadducees," Wikipedia says:
According to Josephus, the Sadducees believed that:
Because, to me, it is not just a matter of asking "Why Did They Believe The Soul Was Not Immortal Or That There Are No Rewards After Death?"
But, rather...Why would they WANT to believe that??
What a dreary, empty, depressing, hopeless system of belief, in my opinion...........
"You suffer and struggle through life, enduring pain, persecution, hardship and misfortune...only to die and end up being nothing at all"........
What a cold, shallow, indifferent God the Sadducees must have believe in......
He creates you, gives you life and brings you into this world, merely to forget that you ever existed at all after you die......
I just can not understand how or why a system of belief like that could have ever been all that popular....
According to Josephus, the Sadducees believed that:
- there is no fate
- God does not commit evil
- man has free will; man has the free choice of good or evil
- the soul is not immortal; there is no afterlife, and
- there are no rewards or penalties after death
Because, to me, it is not just a matter of asking "Why Did They Believe The Soul Was Not Immortal Or That There Are No Rewards After Death?"
