From: My Reversion Story: How Our Lady Of Fatima Led Me Back To The One True Faith | Christian Forums ***Warning! for anyone curious in checking out that blog entry, it does get dark and disturbing at times***

" I never doubted Marian devotion, even when I had fallen away from the faith, I never questioned Marian devotion! I remember, first time I heard that Catholics called Mary, the Mother of God, and thinking, "wow, that's pretty bold!" but I meant that in good way.

When I finally reverted, I fell head-over heals in love with her and wanted to learn everything I could about her! She is wonderful! She is the greatest human being ever, she is humanity as God meant it to be! The Lord loves her more than we can possibly imagine here on earth, and Our Lady loves and adore he Son and God perfectly! She is the strongest and bravest woman ever, she never complained, she never ran away, she stood firmly at her Son's side on the Cross. She is most merciful and forgiving, even though it was our sins that cruelly crucified her beloved Son, she happily embraces us as her children, the Saints tell us, that her second favourite title after Mother of God, is Advocate of Sinners. I love her so much, that it is my hope that, one of the effects 33 Day Marian Consecration that I'm taking (see here for details: What Is Total Consecration To Jesus Through Mary? | Christian Forums), is that my love for Our Lady is pure, that is purely for her Son and God's sake and not my own, that love is most pleasing to her. "

So what are your thoughts on our Blessed Mother? How's your relationship with her? Has she helped you with anything recently or in the distant past?

Woah that is bold!
I think the Blessed Mary is an excellent role model for women and I happily call her the mother of Jesus and seek to get to know her as with all the women from the Scriptures but I can't honestly in good conscience call her the mother of G-d that's going a bit too out of my comfort zone like she's a goddess or exalted above Him or something. I thought Jesus said He was our only advocate?

in the bible there is not "jesus is god"

Course there is it's implied all over the place even in Genesis when the word for God is in the plural Elohim and God says let US make men in our image and likeness if He was alone why would he refer to Himself in the plural?
If you go into the Bible looking for facts to prove and debate before you believe then it's not faith and no one gets into the Kingdom by intellectual fact but by humble faith.

PS I can highly recommend Seeking Allah Finding Jesus a book by a very smart ex Muslim who could debate you out of this misguided pride and to the feet of the one true living God.

That's too bad. The Blessed Virgin Mother was declared the Mother of God at the council Ephesus in 431.

I thought all Christians held that belief.

I don't know about that would be interesting to know though I've pulled up the wiki page for starters. The catholics do seem to know more or put more emphases on Mary than protestants seem to for sure.

I'd be interested in learning more but I have to admit I'm fearful.

You're illogical.
You may refer to her as mother of Jesus, but not mother of God???

Isn't Christ God as much as the father and the Spirit is?

I am I don't pretend to be rational or logical or even remotely intelligent. I just know that in my heart I can say and do believe that Mary is the mother of Jesus the man but I can't say that Mary gave birth to God because God always was and I'm fearful of stepping into pagan territory saying Mary is a goddess to have given birth to a god. I can say and believe that Jesus is fully human and fully divine but I don't know how or why I hold this paradox I believe I'm enabled to by the Holy Spirit. I don't think about it I just accept it in my spirit.
As my Spirit is one with God and my flesh is one with Satan I believe Jesus the man His flesh died on the cross to save me from my sins but His divine Spirit never died still lives and was raised.
God the Father
God the Son
God the Holy Spirit.
I believe Jesus is God even if He never specifically claimed to be in Scripture I believe it to be implied and shown by his works.
That is my faith.

I know it makes no sense! Fear blocks me from making sense!
I know God the Son was crucified but for some reason putting emphasis or elevating Mary just freaks me out.

I'm still young in my faith and impressionable it's a difficult phase to be in.

Ha ha, forgive me for laughing I just think you're so cool ;)

Your honesty is remarkable.
All Mary is in Christian theology is due to the son.
All Mariology rests on Christ which makes mariology highly Christological in its very nature.

Dont be afraid of Mary :)

She is the mother of the human part of Jesus who is God..but didn't birth the pre-incarnate Jesus.

Jesus was fully God and fully man. It's called the hypostatic union.

Exactly, union.
Hence to separate the one from the other as part of a semantic gymnastic in order to avoid making use of the term theotokos is redundant.

You should never flee from reason! The purpose of reason is to submit to Truth, and God is Truth Himself!
Truth is that which is, and God is HE WHO IS. If you do not use your reason, there is a serious danger your reason will be subjugated to the the very flesh you are trying to resist!
