How do you know for sure when a particular want or desire or belief that something will happen in a certain way is from God? Does it feel a certain way? Do you get different forms of confirmation? Do you just have to jump into one particular decision and hope it's right? I'm just wondering...I thought I knew what God was trying to tell me one thing about a situation, but I was just proved wrong. I mean, I was 99% sure. Maybe leaving that one percent unsure was what got me in the end, or maybe I WAS right, and this is just a test of my faith, but it doesn't seem to be the case. I don't want to make the mistake of thinking I'm believing the right thing again if I'm not, so....how do YOU know that God is telling you something?

I think that is something you have to learn by living and making mistakes. One standard to measure things with is that God will never tell you something that clearly is not supported in the bible. Aside from that, you have to learn to distinguish his voice from your own desires. Get used to getting that completely wrong for a couple more years. I don't know if we ever get it right once and for all.

That is how your faith is built. When we come to a point in our lives where we just take off the baggage and dreams and goals and lay them at Christ's feet. In return for our devotion to Him, He fulfills our dreams and goals, but it is fuller and richer than anything we would have expected, because we are living out life on Hid term , not our own.

Peace, God Bless- EJO

You can't for sure until it actually happens.

American Christians spend too much time looking for personal prophesy and not enough doing the will of God that is already revealed in the Bible.

You can't rely on feelings to tell you the right thing to do, or to tell you the future. God does not tell us our personal futures, we have to live each day one at a time, on second at a time, without knowing for sure what the next second will bring because He wants us to build faith in Him. If you knew the future in advance, that wouldn't build your faith at all.

The best answer is, "Don't waste time trying to predict what God will do--He doesn't tell you ahead of time, and you just never know what's in His plan."

When God speaks to me it is very encourageing, positive and uplifting. He is never critical of me and does not ever beat me down. He just shows me the way to go, and the path to take.

We know in every way, we are to be like Jesus, He came and set an example for us on how to live and what sort of people we are to be. We know it is the will of God that all in Heaven and in the Earth will be gathered together in Christ. We will be of one mind and one accord. We will have the same mind that Jesus had, when He walked the Earth as very man. We will have His attitude and His same divine nature.

I really liked your answer, Lambslove! :) I try awfully hard to avoid relying on my feelings, and to stop wanting to know exactly what's going to happen to me.....not the right route to take, that's for sure. :)
