There has been a lot of argument of late on this board between Progressive and Traditional Adventists. I know we have different opinions, but we are all united under Christ so let's have some peace for a while. And when we do debate, let's keep it cordial, okay.

Note: I am not a mod and I am not accusing anyone of being combative. I get mad at people and attack them too. I am just saying. Nor am I supporting one group or the other. I am taking a neutral stance on this thread.

After 10 years of pastoring I never saw peace between these two groups. I saw a cease fire every once in a while, but they still never really liked each other much (and both still believed THEY were right). They just supressed their anger and gripes, but only for a time.

Is that what you're calling for...a cease fire for a while?

There is no unity and there will never be. You might as well try to unite the balanced, moderate Muslims with fundamentalist, Bin Laden Islamics.

At best, we merely tolerate each other and keep to our own churches.

Those who have love in their hearts for their brothers (and sisters) in Christ want to discuss peacefully, but their is much angst associated with the conflict between actual responsibilities to self, one's principles, and responsibilities to God as a Christian and specifically a SDA Christian. Gradually they are seeing that their only true resposibility is to follow what Jesus told us which is to love God and our fellowman, all other things come from this......

   And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

2. Mark 12:31
   And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.

I guess I am preaching as the Spirit compels me......

I would suggest that theologically you have made one too many assumptions.

I'm studying the life of Christ and have recently ran across His teaching the disciples that how they treat Him is bad and wrong then they will do the same to the disciples as well. The world is at enmity with God and makes WAR upon her seed. There is no peace with those who have consciously and deliberately rejected the messengers that God has sent. Christ gave a parable about that once (or twice?)--Matt. 21:32-41 (DA, 596).

I have far more issues with those who consider her and use her in unacceptable, extreme ways than those who have rejected her.

The former group does more damage IMO.

I batten down on both sets of extremists--I hear more and am attacked more from those who have rejected her than those who abuse her--there's a simple reason why they go to extremes: their reasoning skills aren't that good.

And so it begins even in a thread about getting along. Accept my prophet and the way I see things and we can get along. But that is not really getting along is it?

I'll answer your question with a question. Who is he and I?

Forgive me if I misinterpreted the subject of your ridicule. It is imaterial whether I was correct about who you were directing your comments to, they were still not kind.

I don't agree with that OnthDL. You cannot call liberal Adventists dark. I believe that everyone who professes Christ as their Savior and holds to that conviction will be saved not just Adventists.

I haven't said who's the light and who's the darkness. And I've never said only adventists will be saved.

However God will in time reveal His absolute truth to His sincere followers. Not everyone who said Lord, Lord will be saved.

The word/truth is a dividing sword. The two opposing views can never reconsciled.

To lay down the theological differences and worship together in the love of Christ is called ecumenism.

As Israel was carried to Babylon, the majority of SDAs are carried into captivity. Only a remnant shall be saved.
