After seeing the Anglicans get an 1611 Bible with an special file I think we should try to get something for ourselves. I think we should get the 10 Commandments! Just give blessings to this file and when we have enough we will buy them! But the Anglicans are wanting them to so we need to catch up!

With the volume of traffic that we get in here it's not likely that we would get them any time soon.

I have a better idea though. Why don't we hold each other accountable for memorizing them.

Lol, reminds me of the Mark Twain story....

"Before I die I mean to make a pilgrimage to the Holy Land," a nineteenth century industrial baron once said to Mark Twain. "I will climb to the top of Mount Sinai and read the ten commandments aloud."
"Why don't you stay home and keep them?" replied Twain.

There might be a few ways to get them....

Idea #1

Though I am not sure if it is allowed or not.

Back in the day when I used to play video game I used to frequent a forum where we would make little graphics for people that went with their name...signature banners (like the fishy one in my signature) And since it was a forum for a video game they would pay in game currency.

We could make signature banners for people in return for blessings, which are the currency of CF :)

Any artistic folks here?

Looks like a 75 pixel height for the non-scrollbar people...not easy, but doable.

idea #2

Or if there is anyone really good at the CF arcade they could get 1k blessings at a shot!

idea #3

post a WHOLE BUNCH.

I think around 5 mil or so....

I don't know for sure as I don't even mess with characters etc.

quizzes are also a simple way to get blessings.

If you are serious about this I suggest writing up an ecumenical thread to advertise and organize, and use the open tag as others have done so that all can donate.

5 million blessings?

Thats insane :p

Wouldn't our blessings be better off being given to new folks as a welcome? I remember when I was new and didn't have many, and I really really appriciated people giving me blessings :)

A quick calculation shows that it'll take a 1000 days to reach 5 million blessings at 5k blessings per day. :p

20k per day = 250 days.

Hey guys.

First time in here so greetings to you all from both STR, OBOB, and the Cyber Corps (the three places I hang out).

Might I make a suggestion here?

There are two sets of Commandments in the armoury. STR are saving for one set and have about 850,000 so far. The Semper guys are chasing the other set and are somewhere over the 700,000 mark.

Given that, like the Cyber Corps, you don't get as many people in here as STR and OBOB (the two big congregational forums), you will probably struggle to keep pace with the two campaigns running at present.

So why not go for one of the Armour of God items?

The Baptists recently raised 750,000 to buy a Helmet of Salvation from the armoury (there are more than one of them).

How about the Sword of the Spirit?

Costs 1 million blessings.

I'll be happy to help out as and when I can withy it, and once you get some momentum going, it's surprising how quickly the blessings mount up.

Think it over. If you all decide to go for it, I'll start you off with 25,000. And of course I'll be happy to give any help and guidence I can.

God Bless you all.

Andy

If you can get, say, half a dozen people on board with the project, then you have a good basis to start.

You have three already (including me) so you're doing well so far.

Might I make a further suggestion here (and it is only a suggestion. I only want to help with the project, not hi jack it).

If you decide to go for the Sword, you might want to consider creating a Character and a thread for it (as STR have done for the 1611 Bible and now the Commandments). Click the link in my sig and you'll se what I mean.

The benefit of it is that it gives people a place to donate blessings to which they can identify with the appeal. And, of course, when you get the sword, the character can then hold it on behalf of everyone.

Also, don't think it's gonna take ages to get 1 milion blessings. It won't. Once you get going, you'll be getting interest on your banked blessings each week, and they really do mount up quickly.
