Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Let's be one!

Hello, dear brothers and sisters in Christ attending all churches, believing in all kinds of theology!

There's so much division and separation between us. It's not good. Our Lord Jesus said, "Let them be one". Why don't we listen to Him?

I suggest to try and list the ideas that we all would agree on. I will start.

1. Jesus Christ is God and Lord.
2. Salvation is through faith in Jesus Christ.

Please continue! Or suggest to remove a point. We can derive to a common core of our one faith and enjoy our unity, instead of quarreling about all kinds of differences.

Do you know what "over realized eschatology" means?

An overly-realized eschatology can also lead one to expect that their complete sanctification will be a reality in this life. We will expect to conquer all sins in our life and stand before God holding out our own obtained sanctification as the grounds of our being justified and one of the elect. Being fully sanctified is not something we will ever be able to achieve here on earth in non-glorified mortal bodies. Every part of our being: body, mind, and soul is tainted with sin, and will be so until we die. When we are given glorified bodies on that great and final day, only then we will be fully sanctified.

Those 2 words ,
together with the title,
harmonize perfectly
when a man and woman become husband and wife ..... "I do".... and become one flesh....

Not Echad, as in John 17, "One" with the Father and the Son Jesus Messiah...
that's different, not flesh....

As best I understand, and I am surely open to learn if someone can teach more, we are already one, we who believe in Him, risen, the Son of God, with real faith. The Body of Christ is among all churches, and in all nations even. That oneness I think already exists, by His own prayer in John chapter 17, answered.

Of course, we'd be happy for more people to realize all other believers are their very brothers and sisters in Christ, and never dare to judge them!

3. The Apostles' Creed, from the fourth century Church (about 390 AD)--

I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended to the dead.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

--------------
Here, "catholic" is in it's original meaning -- universal, all. Oneness.

The communion of saints -- (Latin, communio sanctorum), when referred to persons, is the spiritual union of the members of the Christian Church, living and the dead, those on earth, in heaven, and, for those who believe in purgatory, those also who are in that state of purification.

With these two wordings explained, I think very few believers in Christ anywhere would say they don't believe all of these.
