• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

Yknow, you can always tell who's disciples are Christ's, because they love one another. And you can always tell which ones are the Pharisees too, always condemning, pointing the finger, noticing the splinter in the eyes of others, but ignoring the beam in their own. For if they saw the beam in their own eye, they would not criticize the splinter in others' eyes. Christ's disciples love each other, that's compassion, mercy, patience, and charity.

Maybe you all aren't as righteous as you think you are, ye who criticize so vehemently. Maybe you should try being, uh, nice. But will you listen? We'll see.

Perhaps its time for you who judge others to take a step back, look at your own wretched lives compared to God, and like Job did when he saw God, fall as dead in despair. For he alone is the holy one.

Do you judge people for their attire? in church even? when you should be loving them are you judging them by their flesh? perhaps it is time for those of you who are very judgemental to repent yourselves. God came to call the sick, to call sinners to repentance. don't use your bible to bash the injured.

Consider the story of the man beaten by robbers, and only the Samaritan, hated by Jews, had the compassion to take him and feed him and tend to his wounds. that's love. love doesnt just stare at the wounded, or walk to the other side and avoid it. it does all it can to make the wounded person better. oftentimes this requires a commitment of time and love and concern. ie being a friend.

you probably skimmed this post. i hope not. but if you did then reread it. compassion and the truth are one. just as life and the way are one. they are one and the same, you cant have truth without compassion. truth without compassion is just a fact. any evil dictator knows facts, can use facts, and can hurt others with facts. but it takes a true child of God to use truth as a means of compassion and really love the person instead of bashing them with a bible. bashing people with a bible is inefficient, ineffective, and you don't see Christ doing it. He is compassionate, and we are called to love others as He loves us (and them).

I just am so sick of self-righteous people who go around telling people to get over it and just grow up ... etc. get a life - in Christ. Realize your own sin and realize it has been forgiven, just like theirs. yes, we must all repent. i do not disagree with that at all.

however, people are drawn into repentance through experiencing compassion/love, not through hateful hypocrites telling people to get over it. thats just not loving. people who are already aware of their sin do not need a preacher of the law to assail them, for they already feel convicted in their heart. that situation requires a preacher of the gospel, which is by the way Good News, not bad news as some people tell it. some people say you cant drink or smoke. but according to matthew 15, it is not that which goes into the mouth that defiles a man, but that which comes out of the mouth comes from your heart. or acts 15. only certain things are heavily discouraged. meat sacrificed to idols, sexual fornication, etc. you can read it for yourself. point is, smoking is not on the list, yet how many of you out there condemn crack smokers and pot smokers and cigarette smokers and people who drink alcohol? yet these are all things which go into the body, thus they do not defile. it is our evil thoughts and words and actions against others and against God that defile us.

God's Son turned water into wine, and it was the best wine the people at the party had ever tasted. They were already having a really good time, and now there were dozens of gallons of more wine to go around, the best ever. God made alcohol, and he made all the flowering plants. If we thank God for them, there is nothing to worry about. Our job is NOT to judge others. but to forgive others.

our Master died brutally to ensure the total forgiveness of all who believe in Him. I will not have the yeast of hypocrisy spread through CF. be nice to people, as you would be nice to yourself. if people view your compassion as non-compassion, are you really being compassionate? i know when someone's being nice to me or not, and so does everyone else. and i know when someone's judging me for my looks or hair or other. thats not nice.

so you see, Lord Yeshua loves all sinners. But the sinners who don't admit they're sinners but go around attacking everyone else for their sins, they're the hypocrites. I just want people to recognize if they are hypocrites or not so they can admit their sin and repent, and be nice and loving. I don't judge you, but I do hope you will learn from this message and be nicer in the future, and not mean.

so let's not get over it, lets reach out to the people who are hurt and really give ourselves to them as friends, and really love them instead of just talking a good talk.

You don't judge? Read your post it's all judgement. You need to not only read scripture but understand. Its not all about looking at your own problems, we are suppose to help our brothers. People love to missuse the splinter analogy and forget about confessing sin. People love to use the judge not, but forget the judge with righteous judgement. If you confess you are a sinner and then using righteous judgement you point out someone elses sin you are doing a good thing. If you see sin in your life and see that a brother is involved in sin and just ignore it, your sinning more. What we need to do is recognize our sin and deal with it, accept it as sin and also try to help others. Open your judgemental eyes. look around the log sticking out of your eyes and lets try to help each other remove our splinters and logs.

1 Corinthians 6:9,10

Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be decieved: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolators nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. (NIV)

Not to belabor the previous points but i just wanted to clear this up. It would seem that we have been confusing one's past with their new life in Christ. We have all sinned but once we come into fellowship with our Lord, we are duty bound to confess our sins and seek repentance. Irrigardless of what those sins may have been. If a believer chooses to continue in these sins, they should be expelled. But if they want to be healed and live a life fullfilled by Christ's shed blood, then they MUST repent and seek to eradicate that sin in their life.

I sincerely believe that homosexuality is just like any other sin, an offence to God. I also believe that no sin should be condoned either. We must use love when we gently show the truth to non-believers. If and when they accept the Lord Jesus Christ, it is also our duty to make disciples of them and help them with their struggles. If we ignoreany sin in anyone we jeapordize salvation and corrupt the church to boot.

Please, everyone, let's lose the vitriolic comments and talk about encouraging ways to help those caught up in sin and lies.

God bless you all!

Wow, brothers and sisters let us not use harsh words. We talk about sin in this thread and yet we indulge so happly in it with wicked tongue.

First and for most let us stop casting stones not given to us to cast. Let us take a moment and pray to our almighty loving Father.

Oh heavenly Father, we are an ignorant people. We gossip and lie. We indulge in excess to things we do not need. We whip and scorn our brothers and sisters with our very own tongues. Forgive us of our ignorance loving Father and bring us closer to your bossom where we may find truth and peace Lord. Jesus you have given us reason to love and now we just need to see it. Thank you Lord God you are the way. I pray this in the name of the blood of the Lamb Jesus ~Amen~ :crossrc:

Please understand I approach you all with the love I would give to my very own family. Let us stand together in love. Let us not indulge ourselves in debate.

This is a heated issue. And I would say that I do hold a stand point on it. What good will my opinion do in this thread but tear my brothers and sisters more apart. Paul warns in Romans that judging somone for something makes us no better then that very same person. We all have sin I being the worst of all sinners. Remember that Christ died for sinners not for the perfect. Homosexuality, is it a sin? Perhaps. Does a homosexual need to have to hear about how its a sin all the time? No. God forbit somone constantly knocked on my door and called me a sinner. If homosexuals burn in hell because of their sin then I will be burning with them because of my sin. This is not a lazy answer to this debate but a loving one that is honest.

I deserve to burn in the lake of fire. I deserve to stand in the pits of hell for all eternity. I of all people deserve to be seperated from God all the rest of my days. Thank God(litteraly) for Jesus Christ. Thank God Jesus saw my imperfection and came to shade it with his blood. Lets all love one another and keep our liberators commandment. God bless you all.

Love brother ~Justin~ <><

We are called to be compassionate and to love the sinner, but we are equally called to not compromise on sin. I am guilty of having struggled to accept a friend involved in homosexual sin. I find the relationship very difficult, compounded by the fact that he is aware that I struggle with my own sexuality. But I do see 'homosexuality' for what I it is: it is not an identity in its own right, men and women are not created 'gay', and all sexual acts outside marriage are sinful. There can be no compromise. It is just so important to empathise and love the sinner involved in a 'gay' lifestyle; they will most certainly struggle to find true fulfilment in Christ if they are rejected and condemned by the Christian. For those involved in sexual sin, I would pray that they seek an answer to the questions 'Is Jesus the Son of God; did He die for the forgiveness of my sins; did He rise again?' rather than 'Do I stand condemned in the eyes of Christians?' 'Am I loved by those who profess to love Christ?'. Those Christians involved in the 'gay' lifestyle equally need our love and support. Why? Because the Holy Spirit has convicted them of their sin, and they are well aware of the truth.
