  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

"Even if the Bible utterly forbids a thing, if your desire for it is strong enough, you will find a way to justify it. Lethal SELF-DECEPTION."-(Ken Raggio)

I ran across this quote today and found it disturbingly true. I think it is worth discussing. I am very interested in learning how others people think and the logic (or lack thereof) for their behavior. So, I ask:

Do you recognize this tendency in others?

Do you recognize it in yourself?

How do you handle it when you see it in others? In yourself?

Thoughts? Comments?

Good question.

I think the greatest example of this most commonly found in today's church is walking in the flesh versus walking in the spirit.

We are clearly told that they that are in the flesh cannot please God, that the flesh is contrary to the spirit and the things we want to do we cannot do. Yet, under our current prevalent teaching, we have formulated a doctrine that in essence promotes the best example of double mindedness there is.

Think for a minute. What can be more double minded than to believe that we are somehow BOTH in the flesh and in the spirit, that we are still both sinner and saint. This is not a teaching of the Bible, for sure.

We justify our "fleshliness" by saying that we are, after all, only human, that we are just sinners saved by grace, yet where is that in scripture? God has declared us clean, new creatures, and Paul went so far as to tell us that NOTHING proifits, except a new creature, yet we have ben satisfied to remain as old one trying to act new and the result is Laodecia II.

Our Bibles tell us that we are to reckon ourselves dead to sin, to know the truth that we who are His are no longer in the flesh, but in the spirit, that we "owe" the flesh nothing. Yet, we justify our continued walking in the flesh because, after all, everyone else is, so who are we to say otherwise?

We have all heard the story of the man with the black dog and the white dog battling inside him and when asked, which one is winning, we reply, "whichever one I feed the most." If this is true, then we are feeding that darned black dog way too much.

But God has clearly told us to reckon the black dog DEAD, and that our very shield of faith is that we are now light in the Lord, and it is only faith in this sure truth, this understanding, that enables us to then fulfill the next part of that verse, where Paul then tells us "Then walk as children of light." We have reversed the order and in the process, deceived ourselves to a far greater degree then we could ever imagine.

It is time we stop seeking the accolades and acceptance of men, and if necessary "go outside the camp" to flee this contentment without godliness. It is time we get serious with God as to our lukewarmness and spiritual lack for we are in no way prepared for what is brewing on the horizon. I believe our very souls are at stake.

It is time for some honest soul searching as to why we are so darned satisfied to just be entered in the race, yet not be running it as if there is only one prize. God knows our hearts. Do we?

Blessings,

Gideon
