  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

John 7:38-39
38 "He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, 'From his innermost being shall flow rivers of living water.'"
39 But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.
(NAS)

This thread is to encourage one another to move in he power of the Holy Spirit.

2 Tim 1:12-14 12 For this reason I also suffer these things, but I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day.
13 Retain the standard of sound words which you have heard from me, in the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus.
14 Guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure which has been entrusted to you.
(NAS)

Rom 5:5
5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.
(NIV)

Love Jesus, think Jesus, desire Jesus, breathe and experience Him.

The Holy Spirit at work

1) The Bible may say that Jesus is Lord, but the Spirit makes that real to me.

2) The Bible may state that God is Father, but the Spirit makes that real to me.

Rom 8:15-16
15 For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father."
16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God's children.
(NIV
)

3) The Bible may state that God is glorious, but the Spirit makes it real to me.

2 Cor 3:15-18
15 Even to this day when Moses is read, a veil covers their hearts.
16 But whenever anyone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.
17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
18 And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord's glory, are being transformed into his likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

(NIV)

4) The Bible may say that God is love, but the Spirit makes it real to me.

THE RIVER

There is a river proceeding from God’s Throne,
And that river brings life, presence and power,
With it flows God’s grace and mercy for this hour,
As the Holy Spirit calls people to be new creations,

Living waters quench the thirst of those who are thirsty,
Those who drink of those living waters will never thirst again,
For the water that Jesus gives is a fountain of life everlasting,
And it was the Holy Spirit who birthed in you that thirst.

The Holy Spirit reveals more of Jesus and the Father to us,
He brings incomparable joy, freshness, and communion with God,
And the river of living waters starts to really flow in our hearts,
And in turn those living waters will flow to others from our hearts.

My friend we need to go deeper in the river, ankle deep will not do,
Yes we need to go deeper in the river waist deep will not do,
To be freely flowing in this river we need to be swimming,
But we can only swim in the river when we venture right in.

So let’s put aside all fear of the deep for in the river is life,
And venture right in and swim and know abundant life,
For when we swim in the river Jesus is ever present with us,
And when we flow with the river the Holy Spirit empowers us.

The Lord’s glory is revealed in the river as the Spirit moves over the deep.
The Holy Spirit will fill us up afresh so we can let the living waters flow,
For a river must flow out and we need to let the river flow out to people in need,
So when we are flowing in the river reaching out to others we must go.

1Co 6:19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;

Wha does this verse mean to you, lately the Lord has been talking to me abou my eating habits, I am carrying an extra 35 lbs or so of weight.

But when I think that my body is the temple housing he Hly Spirit surely that demands responsibility on my part?

To me this has two ways to look at this. Firstly and most importantly is spiritually we are to full of the power of God, surrended to His will and filled with the spirit. The temple of God is a most holy place and we are to act and live like we are in the prescence of God. The things we allow to enter our mind enter into the temple of God and into His prescence. The places we go we take God with us. The things we do, we do in God's prescence.

Also from a purely physical point of view. It is through the physical senses that we connect with the spiritual. If we abuse our physical body it lessens our ability to think clearly, causes sickness and disease and this is a dishonour to our God. Our bodies and health is a gift from God we should treat them like that, eat and drink to the glory of God.

Does God get second best? or Excellence in everything?

How can the river flow in me?

Zech 4:1 And the angel that talked with me came again, and waked me, as a man that is wakened out of his sleep, 2 And said unto me, What seest thou? And I said, I have looked, and behold a candlestick all [of] gold, with a bowl upon the top of it, and his seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven lamps, which [are] upon the top thereof 3 And two olive trees by it, one upon the right [side] of the bowl, and the other upon the left [side] thereof. 4 So I answered and spake to the angel that talked with me, saying, What [are] these, my lord? 5 Then the angel that talked with me answered and said unto me, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord. 6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This [is] the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts..... 11 Then answered I, and said unto him, What [are] these two olive trees upon the right [side] of the candlestick and upon the left [side] thereof? 12 And I answered again, and said unto him, What [be these] two olive branches which through the two golden pipes empty the golden [oil] out of themselves? 13 And he answered me and said, Knowest thou not what these [be]? And I said, No, my lord. 14 Then said he, These [are] the two anointed ones, that stand by the Lord of the whole earth.

The bible may say......And the spirit makes it real.

The bible is the one from which the oil of the spirit flows. Heb 4:12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

The bible is the sword in the hand of the spirit Eph 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

We live by the word.. and the Spirit makes it so. Matt 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

If we want to dive in deep into the river we need to be full of His word so the spirit can make it real.
