• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hi all!

I have heard this phrase a few times, both from friends and on this forum.
I'm not exactly sure what it means...does it refer to letting God be the guide for all our problems?

If so, how do we do that? I apologize if this question seems rather elementary, but we have to start somewhere!;)

Cheers and blessings!

Proverbs 3:5-8:

"Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones."

'Nuff said.

I think that one way I see it is that everything that I am not, God Is. Everything that I cannot do, He can. When we are born again with His life, we need to live by His life. It should be no longer I, but Christ who lives in me. We should turn to Him for everything. In my own experience and that of other people I know, when a situation is big or difficult and we realize there is no way we can handle it on our own, we turn to the Lord and give it to Him and tell Him this situation is in His hands. But, with all the little things, we figure we can handle them on our own, and we leave God out of things and do it ourself. In reality, we should turn to the Lord in every situation - big or small. We should let go of trying to control everything and let God be in control.

That's great stuff! Thank you all for the posts!
I'm beginning to understand.

It's a tough one though...after living my life as though I were separate from God and trying to handle my own problems (messing up most of the times!) I'm finding it difficult to, I guess, hand my problems over. (there goes my ego getting in the way, again:doh: )

Step by step is the way.

Cheers and blessings!

I've been there, I share this problem. Trust is a hard thing sometimes for "do-it-yourself'ers". It takes patience, but I'm sure you'll get the hang of it. Once you see the results of this beautiful submission, you see that things turn out just fine, sometimes better than you expected.

I'll be praying for you Tootall, and I will trust God that he will help you to trust Him ;)
