  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It’s up to you. Traditionally, yes, Sundays are excluded.

If I may ask, do you pray the rosary out loud or silently?

God bless
Silently except once when my hubby had music on and I couldn’t concentrate without praying out loud.

Thanks for the info!

Out loud, because I find it difficult to concentrate otherwise.
I have problems trying to pray it at Church before Mass starts. The piano player and singer warming up makes it impossible for me to concentrate.

We usually pray the rosary before Mass at my parish.

They pray it at another nearby parish before Mass here, too, but it’s not my parish. . I’m going there tomorrrow for Ash Wednesday and Confession. I’m going to Mass there because my parish has early morning Masses….dont want to go. A mid morning Mass for the school and a 7:00pm Mass. And why get ashes if I’m going to come home and wash my face?

Sundays are a day of rest. So people can refuel or continue their Lenten commitments on Sunday. The choice is up to the individual.
That’s what I always been taught.

Why can't we pray the Rosary on Sundays? The Glorious mysteries are for Sundays (and Wednesdays).
Correct. During Lent, it’s also nice to meditate on the sorrowful mysteries of our lord and enter more deeply into his passion.

When my Mom taught me to pray the rosary, she didn’t include the mysteries…..just prayers. I asked my pastor if that was ok and he said that there are many ways to pray the rosary and that was okay.

He said as long as I focus on the Blessed Mother while I’m praying it.
So today I went to Confession, Mass, got ashes and prayed the rosary for the first time this Lent which is what I’m doing again this year instead of giving up something.
p.s. Confession was a breeze.
