The Christian community believes that man is sinful and evil by nature and is unworthy of the grace of God. While I do not agree with that, I do believe that men do become sinful and even evil during their lifetime and thus loose their worthiness of Gods grace.

Many Christians are trapped in their flesh. They do not know how to grow out of their carnality. I have been told, on this forum, that the more we try to be like Jesus, the more we fail. I agree with that. No matter how much you try, you can never become like Jesus, while in your flesh. The question is: “Do you think that is what God wants, us to remain trapped in our flesh?” Do you think that his will is for us to remain unworthy of his grace? You can never possess the true Christian Spirit until you leave your flesh behind and advance into the spiritual relationship. Why? Because the true Christian Spirit is the spirit of God manifested in you. And the Spirit is not going to fully manifest in you until you loose your carnality.

Mans nature becomes sinful while he is a child. The environment that he lives in, the way he is raised influences and actually causes his sinful nature. What does “sinful nature” mean? It means that we are habitual sinners. It means that we sin often without really thinking about it. Can we change that? Jesus didn’t sin. Why not? He was human just as we are. He was genetically identical to us. He was human, but filled with the spirit of His Father. Why didn’t he sin? Because, from the age of 12, he was so focused on his father, He was so focused on going about his father’s work that he didn’t have time for that carnal garbage. What does that have to do with us? If we focus totally on God, and not on ourselves, we can go for long periods of time without sinning.

If you will try this, it will prove my point. For three days, 72 hours, totally focus on God. Focus on serving Him. Focus on being a blessing to him and others. Focus on going about his work. That means; At home, you’ve got God. At work, you’ve got God. At school, you’ve got God. With your worst enemy, you’ve got God. You may be sitting at your desk concentrating on that project you are working, but your sub-conscious is thinking about God. When you get a break from your project, God comes out. You may be in your phys-ed class, concentrating on making that basket or hitting that home run, but your sub-conscious is thinking about God. As soon as you hit that home run, God comes out and you bless him. If you focus completely on God, you can not possibly sin. Why, because your flesh is back where you left it when you decided to focus on your Lord.

God wants all of us to advance, or grow out of our flesh and become spiritual children that can hear his spiritual voice. God wants us to become like him. What Father would not want his children to become like him? Would a good father rather have a good son or a carnal, disobedient son?

You are trapped in your flesh! You are sinful in nature! You are unworthy of His Grace! But, God does not want you that way! Not only does He not want you to be that way, you don’t have to be that way! You have the option to stay where you are, or grow. So, how does a person grow spiritually and mature into a true relationship with God. It is very simple to do, but you need to make the commitment and not stray from it.

1. Give your entire being to God. (That is not words only. That means that you are willing to give him everything, period. (He will never take everything, but the commitment must be made, heart, body and soul.)

2. Make it your purpose in life to be a blessing to Him, every hour of every day, in all ways. (This means that when you have, or see a chance to bless Him, you never pass it up. Your life can never again be about you.)

3. Tell Him that you want to make His will, His needs and priorities, your will, needs and priorities.

4. Live to be a blessing to all and prove it through deeds.

5. Tell God that you love Him often. Praise Him often throughout the day.

6. Be a shining light to the saved and unbelievers. When they look at you, show them Jesus.

7. If you preach it, live it. If you say it, do it.

8. Serve God in positive ways. Evangelize and witness at all times. Do not accuse and complain.

I am aware that this may not exactly match your interpretation of scripture. I am telling you what God's will for all of us is. If you you don't advance from the state of carnality and into the state of the spiritual, you can never have a good relationship with God.

And that is the problem in a nutshell! You are not interested in whether something is Scriptural or not, you are convinced that what you are speaking is from God - even when it contradicts Scripture. You post these things with the air of "I hear from God therefore I know best."

God will not and does not contradict Scripture. You have had this explained to you many times; you won't listen. Tell me, why should I believe that you are speaking God's word, when even you admit that you have been deceived before now.

Jimmy West is not the authority on God - neither am I or anyone else on this forum, come to that - God is. God has spoken through the Bible. Please do not dismiss our views on Scripture with the assumption that you know better.

WRONG! Your problem is that you have given up without even trying. If you wish to remain in your flesh, then that is where you shall remain.

You don't strive to be perfect. That is impossible. You strive to be as close to perfect as you can get. And the only way you can do that is to take on the character of God by becoming close to him through spiritual growth.

YOu don't strive to be perfect... You REST to be perfect. Perfection begins in Christ when you stop striving and simply rest in what He has already made you in spirit.

Our behavior will follow our belief.

What needs to change is what we are renewing our mind to.

Paul states that our bodies can be instruments of righteousness just as they were used as instruments of unrighteousness.

And Peter states that we are partakers of Christ's Divine Nature.

Grace is the undeserved, unmerited FAVOR of God.

You see, nothing in this world can make you leave behind your old "fleshly" self than by the GRACE of God.

Paul truly understood the meaning of grace; by which no man can ever earn the favor of God.

1 Corinthians 15:9-10 For I am the least of the apostles and am not sufficient to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. (10) But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace which was toward me has not been without fruit, but I labored more abundantly than all of them; yet not I, but the grace of God with me.

Paul became what he was by the grace of God; a great man of God! Not the other way around, I'm sure he didn't have to lay down his "flesh" first to be chosen later as an apostle...

Jesus does not make us perfect. He makes our future perfect. But, perfection of man is impossible. The only thing that could make us perfect is if free will was taken away. Yes, we can partake in Christ's devine nature. But, we must elect to do it. It is not an automatic thing. If it was, every Christian would be where God wants us to be.

Hebrews 10:12-14 But this Man, after He had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right of God, (13) from then on expecting until His enemies are made His footstool. (14) For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are sanctified.

For the one sacrifice at the cross, Jesus has set us (for those who believe in Him) apart from the rest of the world (sanctified) and our spirits are made new and blameless in God's eyes (perfected). So now, how do we add on to this perfect work? Hmm?

The question is: Who is considered sanctified? Is it those who believe in him? Is it those who have accepted Him becoming "Born Again"? Or is it those who have become spiritually attached to him and taken on His character? Sanctification is the process of becoming totally under the influence of the Holy Spirit. That is spiritual growth and maturity.

You, I and those who believe in Him are, brother...

We are sanctified, set apart, made holy by His blood. There is no in-between. The instance you believe, you receive and obtain sanctification. Do not change the meaning of that word brother. What you are suggesting is working for what is already freely given through the blood of the Lamb. It's a free gift bro. A gift given to you at a great great price!

I am not a mere man. I am a new creature, different from the old. Already (PAST TENSE) made perfect in the Father's eyes through the ALREADY COMPLETED work of Jesus.

I didn't say it was an "automatic" thing. I said we must renew our minds to the perfection that we are ALREADY in Christ Jesus.

Paul tells us in Colossians that in Christ we "are complete." Not some future event, but "ARE", meaning right here and right now.

Paul doesn't say that in Christ we "will be" complete. We are a finished product ALREADY in spirit.

ONCE AGAIN, what needs to change is not our "behavior" but our belief in the reality that already is in the Spirit concerning what Christ has already made us to be.

GRACE, as inrsoul has explained, is the effectual working of God's Spirit within us to bring about this NEW LIFE which we already have.

NEW LIFE
We are not working TOWARD it, we should be working FROM it!

Well paul instructs us to consider ourselves already dead to sin and alive to God. Yes it's hard to leave it behind but I do believe that over time, the Holy Spirit teaches and leads us to freedom. And as we grow in Christ and mature it becomes easier and easier to be dead to sin and alive to God. Either way, I believe that God's grace covers us throughout all this.

This is my 2 cents..hopefully with a little of God grace tucked inside..I do agree that we need to lay down the desires for the things of this world and walk in odebience to the scriptures..Jesus said "if you love me you will obey me" we are commanded by God to be Obedient that is not a option. obedience leads to godliness and freedom, I am not saying that works save us by no means. it's by Grace that we are saved through faith, and not of ourselves so no one can boast. having a single mind toward Christ is required to win the war that wages aginst us...it is unfruitfull being double minded about anything having to do with God. ( I speak from experience ) Jesus hates things that are lukewarm..he said he would spit them out.
our Goal is to be just like Jesus. and God gives us the grace to get there because he knows that we have human weaknesses. but do not use the priceless gift of grace as a excuse to sin..I think Solomon summed it up..this is the end of the matter Fear God and keep his commandments for this is the whole duty of man, for he will bring every act, good or evil into judgement..remember it's all about Jesus, and jesus is all about us.

Is our goal to be just LIKE Jesus or to have Jesus' Life lived through us???

There is a difference.

There are commandments under both the Law and Grace. The difference is that under Grace, Christ, living His Own Life in us and through makes both the desire and the ability to obey the command MORE THAN A POSSIBILITY.

Actually Both happen. the Holy Spirit transforms as into the image of Christ, I could be wrong but dosen't Paul say that we have the mind of Christ and are seated with him...I am asking with humility. as a bother in Christ.
