In less than a month I will be turning 40.

I was not upset when I was turning 30. I'm not upset now that I am turning 40.

At 30 I felt more grown up and alive than I had ever in my life. I didn't feel like my youth was ending. I felt like my life was beginning.

Where I'm at now, I feel that I'm stabilizing and moving forward. I do have ongoing health issues, but I seek daily to improve them. I have the best job I have ever had in my life. My sons are leveling out after some very bumpy years. I write and have one book ready to pitch to publishers, and some others that are well under way. I have a great amount of hope for the future.

There are some things that are disappointing: I'm not married, I won't be having more children, I struggle with finances, I don't own a home yet.. but these things are not necessarily age related. My age is not on the list of things that trouble me. It is silly to fret over your age. There is always room for growth and new phases to embrace.
