  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

The recent thing I'm learning is how to set up a turntable with amplifier and speakers. Yeah I know I'm about 30 years late on learning this but I never had the individual pieces, so I never had to hook everything up before. The record player I did have the belt broke years ago and I couldn't seem to get the right replacement so I let it go. Well I have some vinyl and I just recently bought some more vinyl so I thought this is a good time to buy a system. THANK GOD FOR YOUTUBE! I'd of really been up the creek knowledge wise but YouTube made it so much easier. There's just so much I didn't know about all of this and was feeling a bit intimidated but so far so good. I hear vinyl is making a comeback and listening to some of the younger people talk about it is putting a smile on my face.

So how about you? Aside from work what are some of the new things you're learning?

They say vinyl has a certain charm, just as some of the old multi-track analog tape type recorders they used to use to record albums. If nothing else I can see it as better because of the way we relate to sound, as in that snap, crackle, and pop of the vinyl may subconsciously trigger good feelings from a better time, making the enjoyable point of the music that much better.

My last project was hybrid, powered bicycles. Both gas and electric drives to minimize the chances of being stranded since one leg isn't limber enough yet from knee surgery to pedal. First real project in years and I had a ball. Fulfilling because there is so much room for doing what others have never done, mild engineering and such. Almost have the kinks worked out of both the three wheel, old man bike (my truck :) ) and the 2 wheeler. It's also an experiment in doing without a car.

Now it's something a little less expensive and just for fun...playing around with FPV quad copters and land RC's. RC's are new to me so, I'll see where that takes me.

Youtube played a vital role in both of those projects and is the first place I go for something new..invaluable. I keep thinking, if youtube were around when I grew up the sky would have been the limit.

I didn't know how much I missed my vinyl until I put on that first album. It was like spending time with a dear old friend.

Wow hybrid powered bicycles sounded like some kind of project. It made me think about how inventions come about out of necessity. What you described sounds amazing!

A couple of new things ... I'm remodeling a bedroom. New floor from the floor joints up, electrical completely reworked to bring it up to code and make it practical for today's needs.
The second things I'm learning a lot about none traditional relationships. Like one is I asked a woman who was about to be homeless last winter to move in with me till she can get on her feet again. She has pretty much taken over my TV and the refrigerator. She is making great progress in getting her live back together and then found out with penalties she owes the IRS 33K! So she has had to hire a tax lawyer to deal with that. I really feel that as Jesus said if we do it unto one of the least of these I've done in unto him. I know I've helped and kept one woman from living out of her car thru last winter.
