Go to Israel :D

Seriously, you can learn a few phrases, but with all the questions you were asking in the other thread your time might be better spent at the moment getting the hang of Torah in English.

That said - you can learn a bit here: http://www.hebrew4christians.com/ (disclaimer - this is not a site that promotes torah observance.)

Any suggestions of how I could learn Hebrew both spoken and written?
1. Invest in a good book, with audio, or four. Preferably one that marks vowels!
2. Concentrate on it for at least 30 minutes to an hour a day.
3. Practice and repeat.
4. Make Israeli friends. Chat with them.

Or yeah, go to Israel. :) I'd love to learn Hebrew, but it seems intimidatingly difficult with all its grammar and stuff to me. Grammar scares me, I'm used to analytic languages. Maybe one day, I'll give it a shot!

Hope this helps!

Rosetta Stone is wonderful, and if you follow it, you can learn the language pretty quickly....retaining it is another story. Have to continue speaking and reading which ever language it is to keep a hold of it.

I used to be fluent in Spanish, Hebrew and Yiddish. Hadn't spoken any of them fluently in years and it's taken it's toll.

I don't consider myself fluent in English, I mess up the syntax way too often :D

For me, I am learning by hearing it read, and by the blessings.

You can go to www.mechon-mamre.org and listen to the books of the Tanakh in Sephardi Hebrew. (which is pretty).

I got a KJV bible in audio and was in the process of pairing them together... I have had to stop for now.

I did work on a project of the Psalms divided in the daily readings by week and by month - Hebrew & English; trying to decide which works best for me. I found the monthly to work better; but have been unable to follow it lately.

I am learning WITHOUT the vowel points because most siddurim I have found and most bibles do not have the vowel points. I would like to be able to read the scroll without the points (like the one where I visit now).

Also, it helps to listen to the Messianic Music station that is here on CF. There are a lot of bible-songs in Hebrew. :)
