Learning a language

I hope this is the right place.

I was wondering, if someone wishes to learn Romanian, what should they keep in mind when studying it? None of the schools here (I live in frozen state, US) offer it, even in the universities/colleges (only Spanish, French, German and Latin) so I can't take any classes.

I constantly like to learn, and since I got to study Romania back in high school, I've always been fascinated with the folklore, history and language and was just curious. It's one of the few languages I want to learn.

I heard that Romanian is a very easy to lesrn language. My father inlaw inmigrated to there and he is doing pretty good with the language .

I used to study it independently. (I don't remember Mich though, it's been a while) Why? Just for fun. It can be complicated, because it has had a great deal of Slavic influence. Most verbs and nouns are irregular. Pronunciation is easy though.

Romanian is a romance language, but more complicated than the other one's. You could look into self-study with programs like Pimsleur, Assimil, Living Language, Teach Yourself, etc. I'm a fan of Assimil for any language they offer.

Assimil sounds interesting. Thanks for the tipp. Maybe I'll buy french.
