I have asked this question to several LDS friends and have yet to receive an adequate response...please help if you can.

1) LDS Worship Jesus Christ
2) LDS Worship God the Father
3) How do you rectify the first commandment with this?
a) "Thou shalt have no other gods before me."

If Jesus and the Father are not the same God, how can you worship both and not violate this commandment? Thanks!!

In what way were other LDS responses not adequate?

And welcome to the forum!

John 20: 17

17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

I think you'd better talk to your Catholic priest about the Trinity; they are NOT the same person.

And welcome to the forum!

Bascially, they were unable to tell me how they could possibly worship both the Father and the Son...if, in LDS theology, the Father and Son are not One God/Seperate persons, how can you worship them both without breaking the commandment?

How do you reconcile the issue?

Thanks for the welcome!!

Ah, gotcha. Well, in Catholic theology you have three persons which substantially constitute one God. And in LDS theology you have three persons which socially constitute one God. If you're suggesting that if we worship the Son and you worship the Son, our worship violates the commandment while yours doesn't, I'd say that position makes no sense. Am I getting the underlying problem you see, or am I missing the point?

Thanks for the welcome!!

You are definately getting at it...could you please explain how they socially constitute one God?

In the same way my wife and I socially constitute "one" as husband and wife, just with perfection (and without the marriage connotation).

Then how do you reconcile the first commandment?

Father=God #1
Son=God #2

I am worshipping both equally, yet that are not the same God...

This is the first I have ever heard of this...I think you may want to check...

I'm checking and I can't find where we worship Jesus Christ...

here's a link...

Worship

If I'm wrong the site glosses over us worshiping Jesus Christ.
