The LCMS convention resumes next month on July 15. The offices of President and 1st and 2nd Vice President and other offices will be decided. I was looking at the tentative schedule for Sunday the 15th and they have Balloting to begin at 2:30 with the response from the newly elected President at 2:40. Kieschnick is expecting to win on the first ballot again.

Just once I would like to see this balloting take a few rounds which might mean a new administration.

Any other thoughts on the upcoming Convention?

Pray for our synod. :crossrc:

Everyday DaRev, Everyday. It almost goes without having to say it.

I met Pres. Kieschnick when he was at the Sem for Vicarage and Call services. He's a nice gentleman, but I saw "politician" more than "pastoral" concern.

Where's it being held? I went to the Northwest District Convention last year, and it was kinda interesting (although heavily bureaucratic, which i have a distaste for)...
Yes, let's pray for the best candidates to lead our synod... I honestly don't want anything bad to happen to my precious synod :p lol...

That's one of the down sides of the LCMS polity. Out leaders are not necessarily ecclesiastical leaders, but are more political leaders. So the politics rather than the pastorate that drives them.

Houston, TX. I attended the 2001 convention in St. Louis. It was an interesting experience, but was also somewhat of a zoo at the same time.
