I'm not going to pretend I'm an expert, and I don't play one on TV, nor masquerade as one on the internet, but I've seen the quality of good microphones ruined by the room itself: the echoing/reflections that our ears and brains normally cancel out or compensate for becomes apparent. The reflections is what makes it sound as if we're in a tunnel.

Like Barefoot, I'm no expert either. However, I do own a few microphones from Zoom and they have been top notch in my opinion. But even the worst microphone can give good results if you put the time into it via editing the recording in software. I've also found that Adobe's new free tool also does a really decent job at cleaning your recordings. (Enhance Speech from Adobe | Free AI filter for cleaning up spoken audio)

So, I recommend Zoom for voice quality alone. I'm sure there are better, Røde is also a good brand.
