So was the cop who shot the thug in Ferguson. Gee no double-standard there.
Indeed. I am not defending anyone who thinks that, after reviewing what we now know, the officer in the Fergusson shooting was in the wrong.
...maybe because it didn't. It was known he had a major gripe against cops, not any given race. But hey don't let facts get in your way of making invalid analogies.
Is it possible that this gunman had a thing against cops as well and not specifically whites?
"Traditionally"...ie "used to be." Wow I am so sick of people living in the past like some fantasy world I could puke. This is not the 1850s FYI. It's not even the 1950s. I so wish people with this mind-numbingly ridiculous mindset would join the rest of us in the real world.
You seem so bothered by this discussion - puke, mind-numbing, ridiculous, real world...Unfortunately, institutionalized racism is very much alive in the USA. Note call-back rates for identical resumes submitted with "white-sounding" and "black-sounding" names. It is a real issue and we need to be aware of it.
Whatever that means and even assuming there is any validity to it. I don't know about you, but I've traveled and worked in a lot of places in various areas of the country, and I see minorities well represented. Of course good "affirmative action" (which only "affirms" quotas and ensure reverse discrimination to keep the race card nazis at bay) sure helps, doesn't it? Well hey 2 wrongs make a right![]()
I think that affirmative action is generally wrong. Why are you taking this tone? Whatever course you choose to chart, I will do my best to address you with the charity due you in this friendly, respectful conversation.
No, not at all.You mean like they did in Ferguson initially? OK...
The double-standard with race is rampant and Ferguson was just the latest "greatest" (ie most extreme and absurd) example. Much more to follow I'm sure.
There will, unfortunately be much to follow. Race problems in the United States are centuries old and seemingly few are interested in treating them as the complicated, nuanced problem that they are. It's all "they need to try harder" or "they aren't giving us a chance" and not much interest in really working on root causes.
People keep puffing out their chests and talking about improving race relations, but have no interest in really looking at it with even the tiniest bit of objectivity or rational thought. It's this self-righteous, evil whitey/poor black victim nonsense as if they were trapped in a time loop. There aren't words to describe how absurd and insane this elephant in the room is.
That is certainly a part of it, but I don't think it is the whole story or even the majority of it.
