  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Got almost half way up to the top before I realized that my wife and the others with us... were somewhere back down waiting for me... to come back down. Didn't have the mount for the tri-pod or my 50mm lense, just the kit lense on my XTi. Anyways... :

I'm pretty sure Multnomah is a county in Oregon, so I'm guessing that's the state!

I'm glad to see that the xti kit lens isn't quite as bad as I've heard it is. That's what I'm thinking of getting, but I wasn't sure if I should go for the kit and use that lens while I'm learning, or just buy the body and a more expensive lens right from the start.

You're right fieldmouse3, it's ~15-20 minutes east of Portland. Here's a googlemap, click on the Hybrid view on the top right... you can see roads, the Columbia river, zoom in, etc.

We've been tickled with the XTi, you really need to hold it still when taking shots though. Don't think you would do wrong getting the kit lens for learning, that's what we're doing. The 50mm lense was dirt cheap, and I really wish that I had it with me as I climbed up... well, that and the tri-pod. Hoping to hear from Santa for a good zoom. ;)

Glad to see you went up to the top to fetch these lovely photos for the rest of us who cant climb anymore. I do have some past experience at that but it seems to be in the past now.

I travel often from Boise to Bellingham Washington. We usually chose a round trip route so we can pass through the Columbia River Gorge going one direction and return through Snoqualmi Pass on the other way.

For anyone who hasnt been to the Northwest; they just wouldn't believe how many wonderful experiences there are. It is my favorte place, I made my home many years ago. I am grateful to you for sharing your photos.

Now, have you ever driven the highway on the other side of the Columbia River (up the Washington State side) . From that side, you can also see cross to Mt Hood.

We did only once, but there was one spot along the way that had a scenic offering which produced a simple super duper photo with a rock embankment and pines. I will have to figure out were to post it.

Wow, thanks all

@jbug - thanks, but no... my first.

@Springrain - thanks Springrain. Ya, I/we have been all over "The Great Northwest" through the years, it's a fantastic place to live/raise your kids. Yep, I can't remember how far east, but have taken the Washington side of the river trip a few times, but I think that I know what you're talking about. :) Have you ever made the trip up to McCall? We used to go the the Ice Festival during winter, and just out for a great day trip during Spring/Summer... unfortunately no pics though, just good memories. I've heard that Chuck Swindoll and his wife ride a Harley (motorcycle), and strangely enough, have always thought that a trip up to McCall on a motorcyle would be terrific.

Again, thanks all. :)
